PRO176 "Astral Wave" New Print, by kfroms on Oct 3, 2014 19:40:57 GMT 1, Print just arrived - looks fantastic!! if you're framing, please post pics. would love to see what others are doing with theirs. i'm thinking something very, very simple is the way to go Will do - this is most likely going to be a simple black ( or white?) box with non reflective glass, similar to what HD posted.

PRO176 "Astral Wave" New Print, by behaviorist on Oct 3, 2014 22:23:42 GMT 1, Glad you like the print as much as we do! Thanks for asking about framing. We agree, simple is the way to go and here's how we've framed ours. We think the grey works really well to show off the striking colours. Tell us what you think? is that museum glass?

PRO176 "Astral Wave" New Print, by Jersey Phresh on Mar 23, 2015 16:38:39 GMT 1, Pro176 has straight up copied from Mykola Haleta.. I own works from Mykola and recognized the comic bits immediately. Pro176 stole images of Mykola's collage work and used a computer to distort the work into appearing wavy. Astral Waves was not Pro176's work at all.. Lost all respect for Pro176..

PRO176 "Astral Wave" New Print, by Jersey Phresh on Mar 23, 2015 17:38:57 GMT 1, Mykola's work was manipulated and used as work done by Pro176, for profit and without credit. I'm working on side by side.. Obviously no interest in calling out a French artist without just cause. This is Mykola Haletas work without question..

PRO176 "Astral Wave" New Print, by Mirus Gallery Poesia on Mar 24, 2015 0:44:37 GMT 1, Wow this has been Drama the last 24 hrs. Here was my response to Michael after an almost 30 min conversation with him on FB.
"Again to summarize our long conversation. The work you collaged does not belong to you, the inking, the color palette, the coloring in of the ink, the overall aesthetic none of it belonged to you. You appropriated it into a collage. So it is ironic that you are fighting over imagery that belongs to another artist. Your collage was cut and pasted into a composition. That was the extent of your contribution. Even if it took you 1000 hours to cut and your hands were bleeding you did not draw or color any of the original artwork. So when you accuse another artist of stealing something you took its ironic. If an artist googled comic art and yours came up and he used it as reference that artist was still sampling the original work if they changed or manipulated the work in any way. The same way you manipulated it when you took it. This is art and people use other art to create new art, its nothing new and nothing so outrageous. If your work was unique or orginal then I could understand possibly, but your work is collage of another real artists work who drew them then another artist came along and hand painted the work. Its a Ironic circle and your claim to fame is that someone actually saw your work and used it as reference, without ever referencing the original artist you took from. As stated in this long conversation over and over again"

PRO176 "Astral Wave" New Print, by Mirus Gallery Poesia on Mar 24, 2015 0:56:11 GMT 1, I had a bitter tone as you can see because this artist was acting aggressively, insulting me and generally not listening to reason or open to debate. Pro also understands the dilemna, but if you are familiar with Pro's work or have his book you can see Pro has a real progression of the imagery in his work, it was not all stolen from this one artist who unfortunately he did use as reference to a handful of paintings as he googled images and the artists work came up. he has googled and referenced tons of other work from comics so its an honest mistake, it in no way dictates that either artist owns the original aesthetic or work. Michael is upset because someone if currently relevant and thinks Pro's success is solely based on his work which if he did research is absurd. Pro had utilized this aesthetic in paintings before and after he referenced a set of paintings from Michael.
I do see why he is upset, but I do think that its ironic as he is using collage of another artists work that he would take ownership of the aesthetic all together, anyone that has seen pro's pieces in person can see that they are above and beyond great paintings. They are hand painted meticulously with vibrant amazing color as he has enhanced the original images and created something fresh. Michael has cut and pasted without adding much of his own hand to the pieces which is ok, collage is cool but I think I prefer some of the artists hand in appropriated work. Pro has since moved onto to other reference material as this was only a series of paintings, and Its a mute point really. Michael used an analog way of deconstruction with collage, Pro used a digital way of deconstruction utilizing photoshop and recreating the work with painting. Both are the same concept but both appropriating another artists aesthetic.

There's a massive difference between spending the time to collage an image from images that were never meant to be put together, and taking that finalized image and warping it in photoshop. Massive.

futuristictexturesfromthefuture.blogspot.com/?m=1
This was not a case of one time appropriation of a stumbled across image on found on Google. This is more like artistic identity theft. Image after image stolen, photoshopped, twisted, price tag.. Passed on by Pro176 as his own work which was offered for sale on this forum..
I have collected originals from Michael for years and almost spit coffee through my nose when I saw a picture of Pro176 standing in front of a blown up twisty version of Haleta's work.
At least Pro176 has admitted his lifting of Michael's collage work to his gallerist and said he would stop offering Haleta's work for sale. Thank you for a sensible conversation Poesia..
