The gallery that works with them is being investigated by god knows how many fraud agencies globally, stay well clear of both.

The Connor Brothers ๐ฌ๐ง Mike Snelle & James Golding, by Poster Bob on Jul 19, 2019 14:17:32 GMT 1, The Connor Brothers are backed by an unbelievably powerful, rich and influential gallery. Their work has already significantly risen in value and I can see it rising further. Not from talent, but influence, celebrity and manipulation. Theyโre backed by Maddox! Itโs a house of cards that will collapse. Other artists to become blue chip under Maddox guidance - danny Minnock, Finn stone, Bradley Theodore . ๐๐ they couldnโt make an artist out of Rembrandt!! Itโs a ponzy scheme at best Galleries and dealers are built off of clientele, of which theirs is extensive. We're not talking David Geffen or S.I. Newhouse level but they seem to have a never-ending line of celebrities looking for decorative pieces.

No doubt this is true to an extent but a lot of people are buying based on false investment promises and when they go to sell they are exclusively let down on value, buy back and sale.

The Connor Brothers ๐ฌ๐ง Mike Snelle & James Golding, by teabaggins on Jul 19, 2019 14:32:25 GMT 1, Silly comparison really although Iโm sure the Connor Brothers would appreciate it. Connor Brother are decorative art. Anyone with a simple thought or who thinks the have a half clever slogan they want on their wall could have someone in Dafen create a painting out of it for you for around $50 (which is what they did). FFS they actually use the word โConโ in their name. They are gallerists that realized that people were falling for their clever idea by opening their wallets and decided to โcome cleanโ about the bit they were running to gain some semblance of credibility.. More power to them I guess if it worked. Everyone has a right to earn a living of course. Hell, I even have some artwork that I purchased at target purely for the decoration. Difference is that it only cost me $100.
Harland is an actual painter / artist..

The Connor Brothers ๐ฌ๐ง Mike Snelle & James Golding, by Deleted on Jul 20, 2019 9:42:50 GMT 1, I quite like Connor Brothers, but wouldn't pay the prices their work goes for now. There's no question who was first with the book cover thing, though, is there? Harland Miller was doing it before they existed. Their recent large scale 'A Load of Fuss About F**k All' prints are a really shameless rip off.

Harland Miller is a different kettle of fish, having said that I think most people value the Penguins. some of the smaller works on paper that are still available from his latest Whitecube show were disappointing imo.

The Connor Brothers ๐ฌ๐ง Mike Snelle & James Golding, by Deleted on Jul 23, 2019 12:20:13 GMT 1, I like the Connor Brothers and have a couple of their works:
ltdeditions4u.com/product-category/artist/the-connor-brothers/
What I like about their work is that they offer fun, quick, and walkable art pieces. I cannot stand people saying they are rubbish, but agreed that Maddox is overselling a little bit. I think they are in a tipping point, either they go up with something new or they will go south slowly disappearing from the scene, but what no-one can deny is that the guys are smart, they can produce large quantities of works at affordable prices, that is making galleries to be very motivated to sell their works...
Let's give them a bit of time...

Is it a general case of being irritated by people who have different opinions than your own, including about artistic merit?
Or query whether you're being more specific โ perhaps by suggesting there exists no valid reason whatsoever for anyone to take the view that, as fine artists, the Connor Brothers aren't very good.

Sorry โ should also have mentioned that the print I own isn't actually by the Connor Brothers. So it's obviously not as desirable.
Mine is just a plate-signed offset lithograph which I tore from a paperback, titled No Luck for a Lady. It's pretty much a scanned copy of Why Fit In...? โ by some charlatan called Robert Maguire.
His modus operandi is to steal imagery from the poster-format memes of the Connor Brothers. As far as I can tell, ever since the 1950s, Maguire has been ripping off their images to illustrate book covers. And doing so while cynically failing to ever credit the Connor Brothers as the original artists. Or pay them any royalties for that matter.
In effect, this Maguire chap is cashing in by passing off Connor Brothers artwork as his own. Presumably, he's hoping that we, sophisticated collectors and punters, simply don't care. Or that most of us are too clueless to notice.
__________
It is embarrassing, admittedly, for me to own work by someone who steals without attribution from proper artists. I don't like the idea of condoning (and financially supporting) frauds like Maguire.
But, on the other hand, the image is still kinda cool.

We have shut down our tribute to Mr. Maguire due to the proliferation of art "appropriation"; otherwise known as IP theft. We wish to particularly thank The Connor Brothers for their masterful manipulation of social media and for taking a s**t on the legacy of my father and other great book illustrators of his era.

Mine is just a plate-signed offset lithograph which I tore from a paperback, titled No Luck for a Lady. It's pretty much a scanned copy of Why Fit In...? โ by some charlatan called Robert Maguire. His modus operandi is to steal imagery from the poster-format memes of the Con nor Brothers. As far as I can tell, ever since the 1950s, Maguire has been ripping off their images to illustrate book covers. And doing so while cynically failing to ever credit the Con nor Brothers as the original artists. Or pay them any royalties for that matter. In effect, this Maguire chap is cashing in by passing off Connor Brothers artwork as his own. Presumably, he's hoping that we, sophisticated collectors and punters, simply don't care. Or that most of us are too clueless to notice. __________ It is embarrassing, admittedly, for me to own work by someone who steals without attribution from proper artists. I don't like the idea of condoning (and financially supporting) frauds like Maguire. But, on the other hand, the image is still kinda cool. Or........ www.ramaguirecoverart.comWe have shut down our tribute to Mr. Maguire due to the proliferation of art "appropriation"; otherwise known as IP theft. We wish to particularly thank The Connor Brothers for their masterful manipulation of social media and for taking a s**t on the legacy of my father and other great book illustrators of his era.

The Connor Brothers ๐ฌ๐ง Mike Snelle & James Golding, by met on Aug 20, 2019 15:14:23 GMT 1, Hi! looking for the following: The Connor Brothers Why Fit In When You Were Born To Stand Out Call me anything but Ordinary. Other works Might be if of interest aswell Big or small I like the picture and the Dr. Seuss quote. Though I feel like the text on your charlatan copy is taking up a bit to much of the picture for my liking. Thanks for reaching out!
No worries at all.
Easy to understand why my offering is far less attractive than a genuine Connor Brothers print. In truth, it's the poor man's option for people like me โ who love and covet their images, but can no longer afford them. We're reduced to abandoning our principles and purchasing cheap knockoffs from chancers such as Robert Maguire.
__________
By the way, I noticed Call Me Anything But Ordinary has since been added to your 'Wanted' list. That's another beautiful image by the Connor Brothers. It truly demonstrates their technical prowess. And decisively as well. [To any naysayers out there, you guys haven't got a clue. Take a close look at the artwork, and then tell me the Connor Brothers lack painterly skill.]
Sadly, however, Call Me Anything But Ordinary is also too rich for my blood. I ended up getting a small ripoff version on eBay for $14.99, which initially came with a bunch of reading material attached.
My copy was churned out by yet another charlatan, called Lou Marchetti. Looks like it was quickly scanned from a Connor Brothers original, and then repackaged with minimal effort in Photoshop.
Moreover, Marchetti seems to be trying to take all the credit for the work, hiding the fact he flagrantly stole the image circa 1955. And the added new title, Of a Strange Woman, isn't even funny. If he was trying to ape the Connor Brothers back then, Marchetti should at least have done what they did: Buy a book of quotes from Amazon so he could take his pick of the clever ones.
__________
In this day and age, it's a dismal truth that talented artists attract thieving opportunists. And of course, in buying work from parasites like Lou Marchetti (instead of saving up until I can afford an authentic piece by the Connor Brothers), I'm conscious that I too am part of the problem.
But hey-ho. I liked the image. And I wanted the image, even if mine is pretty much a carbon copy of the real thing. As they often say on this message board, "Needs must!"
