So fair play to them and honestly artists have been copying others since day began. Jesus h Christ I get so fed up with hearing it. Great piece, great message and great cause, end of.

Consider yourself fortunate.

To the extent the Ukrainian cause resonates with people, they could be better off just donating — to avoid being tainted by any association with impostor artists.



Regarding the print itself, I find it terribly embarrassing.

What it demonstrates to me is that the Connor Brothers haven't even bothered reading a summary of the book they are referencing — let alone the book itself. The tie-in with Vladimir Putin is nonsensical because the character of Prince Myshkin is anything but an idiot. This irony is the whole point of Dostoevsky's novel.

So where does the "idiocy" truly lie?

I would argue it's with the Connor Brothers' blunderingly ignorant attempt at a classic literary reference.

If the proceeds are what’s left after costs are covered it’s a nice bit of cost-free publicity.

This is a classic Connor Brothers print imo.

It’s not that funny, it’s not that clever, it’s an uninspired derivative of their own work (not to mention Harland). Few people would actually want it on a wall, but it might give a momentary half-chuckle and inspire a handful of people to pick up on secondary for a slight premium and store in a cupboard.

Given that they made 300 prints for the NHS in 2020 (originally 200, but they decided up expand edition size after selling the first batch), this small size is unfortunately only going to line the pockets of flippers far more than it will help Ukraine.
