'Female Banksy' Theft (!), by lucky7 on Oct 24, 2014 9:56:17 GMT 1, I didn't want to honor this thread with a reply when there were none but seeing it's on pg.2 .... ok: First thing that came to mind is that it is a publicity stunt. This thing was stolen by her people. I am convinced it is so. Who would steal this? Occam's razor.

And yes, the similarity is quite striking.

'Female Banksy' Theft (!), by Deleted on Oct 24, 2014 17:29:07 GMT 1, There is nothing degrating about beeing a woman, so no. But beeing named an existing artist instead of with your own name is. I feel the title is basically saying being a woman street artist is a gimmick - that her skills can only be viewed in relation to a man's.
for example, if a skilled male crafter was referred to "the male Martha Stewart" - I would find that just as degrading
but obviously that is only my opinion and as a woman, you would have a better perspective on it than I in this case

'Female Banksy' Theft (!), by Deleted on Oct 24, 2014 17:36:16 GMT 1, But yes. There is huge differencies how a female and a male artists are presented. A woman is always "talented" a man is a "genius" "the it f**kin shiznit" baah, and they don't even have lipstick on their miserable faces ? but adding "the female..." makes it seem like the person has less talent/genius than their opposite sex counterpart

'Female Banksy' Theft (!), by Deleted on Oct 24, 2014 17:55:14 GMT 1, There you said it. How come the word "female" is assosiated with beeing second best. Here is a huge problem. A woman gives birth to man. Not untill the violance against women stopps, there wont be peace in world. I think we're saying the same thing, just differently
saying "the .... ..." implies "not as good as, but just happens to be the opposite sex"

'Female Banksy' Theft (!), by eschiff on Oct 24, 2014 18:26:31 GMT 1, Sage Vaughn does it better. dripping paint? check! butterflies? check! what to put underneath? I dunno...a shark? These are actually collaborations with Sage and Mike Muller. They had a show at Laz a few years back. Mike is an underwater photographer and Sage a painter. They both are passionate about all things aquatic and are big surfers. The piece I have from that show is my missus' favourite.
According to Laz's website:
Long-standing Outsiders contributor Sage Vaughn is one of our best-loved artists. His collaboration with photographer Mike Muller, Opposing Instincts, was one of the most popular The Outsiders exhibitions of 2011.
Hollywood portrait photographer Mike is also considered the best underwater lens man above or below the seven seas. In their collaborations, Sage paints in his signature style over Mike's stunning photographs of great white sharks. Sage's winsome wildlife and Mike's easily-admired apex predators collide in a spectacular symbiotic relationship.
The original works combine a C-type photographic print and acrylic inks. The varied edition uses a screen printed reproduction of Mike's photography with Sage's contribution hand-painted by the artist himself.

And props with regards to the underwater photog mad skills (z) but it still touches on cliche IMO.

'Female Banksy' Theft (!), by Deleted on Oct 24, 2014 19:56:34 GMT 1, Bampi is both the worst and the best of this turgid so called street art movement -a triumph of marketing over ... well, pretty much anything
it is populist art - and we should know that populsim is supremely patronising- populism is talking down, populism is the performance of bringing pre chewed digestable nuggets along for the masses to graze on - that is the DNA of populism. Populism is a cloak worn by those who have something to sell
I thought brainwash had sprayed a full stop on the whole movement, but Bampi changed this to a comma. the corpse of street art has been dug up and is being a right seeing to.up the bum.with no lube.

Does that mean that the boards belonged to Bambi in the first place?
Did she put buy them and put them there in between singing on Jools Hollands show?
Would they appeal to someone like Brandler?

I wanna tell you there's a really good reason Why I came home wasted in the middle of the night A tiny kingdom at the bottom of the trees Where I was always a winner and I was usually right
Oh, you can watch it when you get a bit older But for now in the bad bits, I should cover your eyes She painted pictures with the tips of her fingers Sewing buttons to Bambi, tying strings to a kite
Turning into black and white Underneath the swinging lights Barely awake But I still got my stripes 'cause you're the killer with the colored kite
I wanna tell you there's a really good reason Why I came down easy, spinning threads to a throne A tiny kingdom at the bottom of the trees Where I was always a winner and I was barely alone
Turning into black and white Underneath the swinging lights Barely awake But I still got my stripes 'cause you're the killer with the colored kite
Tangled up, tongue tied Tell me what to do Tangled up, tongue tied Tell me what to do
Turning into black and white Underneath the swinging lights Barely awake But I still got my stripes 'cause you're the killer with the colored kite
Turning into black and white
