Ian Francis original - interest and value check ? , by throwbackradio on Nov 1, 2014 0:47:08 GMT 1, I have an original Ian Francis painting that I won in an art auction in Bristol at the Paintworks maybe 7/8 years ago . It's approximately a metre square , on show at Hang Up and time to move it on ( it's too big for my humble abode) Is there any kind of market for him at the moment ?? Thanks .

It was a great show but be careful comparing prices. The pieces were quite a bit smaller than this, and all painted on wood if i am not mistaken. Also, i do not believe the show ever sold out, and outsiders have works of his for sale still.

It provides a good indicator to adjust a set a price for his piece. Whether it's bigger better worth a higher price etc etc
The fact that it never sold out is also a good indicator on setting his price to sell his piece......Surely......or is it better people on here randomly make comments of no use at all or say 1000, 20000, 3000 etc etc

Generally Ian's work does less well on the secondary market than primary prices and it is very image sensitive. That said you have had this long enough that the cost price then was quite a lot less than now

The pieces on the Outsiders website weren't in the show. The show pieces were quite a bit smaller and £2.5k + VAT. |
