Recommended sources to discover artists, by MathMC on Nov 1, 2014 11:46:11 GMT 1, Hi every one,
I just started to discover this new world and reading as much as I can to learn about urban art and artists. Maybe this thread has already been created before (apologize if so). I would like to learn about your sources to discover either established or new artists. For the moment, I read a lot of threads in this forum and of course in expressobeans. I visit often 411posters, graffitiprints, street art utopia and start to follow the artists I like via facebook.
What else would you recommend me ?
Thanks in advance for sharing your insights and taking the time. Looking forward to discovering more.

Although I would take their curators choice art advisory with a pinch of salt.

If you are in it just for the money, invent a time machine and message me when you find stuff out...

I also see you read a lot and are doing a lot of indoor-research... I don't know where you are, but get yourself out there! Start with Shoreditch London.... Walk around and bring a camera, post on the forum and people will tell you the artists name, his eye color, his favorite beverage, food, paint, color etc etc.... Repeat this step in a different large city.... 25 years of fun ahead mate!!!

Recommended sources to discover artists, by nicey on Nov 1, 2014 23:18:41 GMT 1, If you're interested in art to hang picturesonwalls.com nellyduff.com lawrencealkingallery.com stolenspace.com lazinc.com pureevilgallery.virb.com upfest.co.uk cover a wide range of popular artists
If you're interested in art on walls, as Json mentioned Shoreditch has a lot in a small area, I'd really recommend @nolionsinengland Shoreditch street art tour if you can go on it. Dave is really knowledgeable, very personable and knows where all the new pieces are, and has a wealth of information going back many years. For blogs globalstreetart.com, vandalog.com, unurth.com, streetsy.com
I find the Very Nearly Almost magazine and blog a really good source of information about popular and lesser known artists. I think their write ups on the artists are really interesting.
Google also has a nice virtual street art tour: www.google.com/culturalinstitute/project/street-art
I hope that helps you

Recommended sources to discover artists, by Deleted on Nov 1, 2014 23:40:54 GMT 1, A very good place to discover artists is Twitter of all places.
Just start following one or two artists you like and re tweet their art and you'll be surprised by how many artists you interact with.
It's a great place for discovering new artists from around the world.
also www.whokilledbambi.co.uk/ if you like the quirky.
plus www.Deviantart.com has lots of artists.
Plus of course the galleries advertised on the banner ads on this site are worth checking out.

Recommended sources to discover artists, by MathMC on Nov 2, 2014 6:20:22 GMT 1, Many thanks all for your feedbacks and insights. I was not expecting as much answers, that's really nice! I will spend time on each, find my tastes and follow artists I like.
Morfx, obviously I just started a week ago to read threads across this board. For the moment, I really like Hush, Miss Bugs. I wanted to get pink variant of Until September from Miss Bugs, but sale was crazy and I was not fast enough to do payment... Bought my first piece yesterday, Rouge II from Hush. Then follows Sandra Chevrier, I found interesting her work and am curious how she will evolve as she really progresses a lot piece after piece imo. I am not here for the money, just for pure pleasure and enjoying great pieces in my place.
biggie, thanks, I already do for years actually... I am not familiar with Street and Urban art though, this is why I am here and I ask questions
Json24, you're right. I live in Hong Kong and just moved here. So far, I have not seen much except few small graffitis in Sheung Wan neighborhood, nice though. Thanks for the advice, I will do so from now on. Yet, what I like too is the capacity to discover very rich content from anywhere in the world. As sgolby wrote in another thread, street and urban art has this capacity to master the internet and the social media to connect and share, thanks to its active global community. I am still amazed to see the richness and I think Street and Urban art does it the best imo.
nicey, it definitely helps! thanks. Whenever I have the opportunity to come back to London, I will contact Dave.
rosh, I actually ordered the French version yesterday. Glad to read it is a good pick.
Do not hesitate to share more insights if you have, I will have a look for sure.
