U/s Banksy prints, by beenrhymin on Nov 3, 2014 21:19:52 GMT 1, Hey All, as i am in the market for some works, i have been trying to better understand how much a piece is discounted based on being unsigned? I see the gaps vary quite a bit (some for obvious reasons, others not). I guess the ones i am looking for answers on are Laugh now US, the Trollies US.
*disclaimer, not tryin to start a s**tshow, no BS, just a simple chat without the usual 40 page complaint would be great!

I think the price difference changes from print to print - and from person to person. Some people may value an u/s GWB more than a signed Flags, because it's a more iconic image. Personally, i'd take a signed print over u/s any day, no matter the image (since I like them all).
But as Json24 said, 1/3 or so would be a good general amount

U/s Banksy prints, by Deleted on Nov 3, 2014 22:21:22 GMT 1, this suppsoes level access to the full cohort of prints in both S & US version- in reality, 1/3 is probs about right for a liquid market, but the fat tails on the likes of RC or GWB can skew the numbers dramatically- assuming both there there to be had of course

Take the unsigned as a base price, and that the price is increased because of the signature. So look at signed, and work back, use the banksy index factor of 3.99 take a bit off due to the season of joy being near, add a bit on due to weather and people spending more time in doors, again pay more as Albert says if you are pissed.
And remember this year is the year of the rat, so there is a premium
Next year its the Reaper.
buy low, sell high, never catch a falling knife, bears do in fact shit in the woods

U/s Banksy prints, by Deleted on Nov 4, 2014 0:47:55 GMT 1, if I had the time ( I have ) and the will ( I dont ), then I could clag together a database that would track the relationships between prices obtained for a range of Bnashky and using art market sentiment variables, the price of paint, the value of the zimbabwe $ & tide tables for the Bristol docks and produce a slinky little graph that could identify break out levels for market action, with say a confidence level of the high 90's to allow for Central tube line timetable slippage. This would allow the user to exploit the volatility and select an optimum purchase range.
oh look, its 23.46 and the wife has gone to bed. time to break out the Havana club and watch cheech and chongs up in smoke online.again.
