I've done it more than once coming back from US and Asia, with some pretty large works (Charming Baker WarChild print stored flat and super well packed from Singapore to London). If you get it past security, the crew have space where they can store it upright

Short answer is no, especially at JFK, if it is bigger than carry on but...if you are flying business or high status in the frequent flyer programs you can usually work it out. A good starting point is saying that if they want to put it with luggage you require specific insurance for 10 grand (which is a hassle for them). Removing from frame would be a hassle but I would think that shipping framed would be expensive and very stressful in wondering if it would be damaged en route.

I really need a Priest in my life!! hey tigerblood, using UPS pack and ship. all I have to do is drop it off at there office. Its insured and haven't had a problem. Just shipped and MW angel framed with no problems. Its not really that expensive if your in U.S. also I hate the idea of rolling. I think its more probable for damage that way. UPS wraps very thoroughly. |
