Advice, always send it to a place where you can get it the first time. The least amount of time its in their hands, the better. You're right, I'm always nervous about getting it sent to my work though. The weird thing is I wasn't even going to open the tube until I got home, for fear of getting the prints dirty or damaging them myself. I immediately called DHL and they told me I have to file a claim online which the gallery may actually have to do depending on who paid for the shipping. Which I'm guessing is them, right?

Yeah the sender , will have to file the claim and they will get reimbursed and pass on to you ..
I'm sure with photos you got they would send another print out instead of waiting for the claim to go through
As can take a couple of months
Plus galleries keep extra stock as this can happen commonly in transit so easy to swap

Just an ordinary day in the life of any sorting office I guess.
