Stik... On a Budget, by cmodart on Nov 20, 2014 14:11:09 GMT 1, We got the Ikea frames too. I couldn't see any point in paying a fortune for 4 expensive frames for 4 cheap posters. They look great and like others have said, they get a lot of positive comments. I find this quite interesting aa. So, is itย better to pay a fortune toย frame an expensive work rather than place it in an adequate, cheaper frame? Its easy to get carried away when framing an expensive piece of art. As long as the frame suits and the right conservation materials are used (if at all necessary, perhaps just pay for conservation mounting board) does it matter how much it costs? I'm not being argumentative, I'm just exploring the relationship between percieved value of the works and the frameย used. These ยฃ8 frames are great and would equally work with a more expensive piece, no? for me, this is more about long-term preservation of an expensive work. The UV glass, the better skill at mounting, and the better materials which are certainly acid-free rather than probably acid-free.

I don't mean much with this, other than why would I spend several hundred pounds framing four posters I bought for ยฃ5? Regarding whether they'd work on more expensive pieces, I'd ask if uv protection was required. If not, then yes, they're easy to fit and hang. On the other hand if I'd spent several hundred quid on a print, I'd want to protect that investment and would be prepared to spend a bit more.

I'm not being argumentative, I'm just exploring the relationship between percieved value of the works and the frame used. These ยฃ8 frames are great and would equally work with a more expensive piece, no? depends if you like unexpected borders on all your expensive artworks really (assuming you use a mount), or just faded pieces if you don't.

Stik... On a Budget, by damo on Jun 4, 2016 11:12:41 GMT 1, Does anyone happen to know the Ikea range of frames these were? I've a single (book) poster that i now want to frame up, and will then re-glass, but from what i can see online ikea don't have the frame in stock any longer. I am sure i'll be able to get the frame online but the actual range/size would be really helpful in a search for that, if anyone happens to know what it is. Ta.

Allthough at ยฃ35, some of you probably could get a similar price at the framers.
