Martin Whatson, Climber, by duggyfresh on Dec 4, 2014 17:52:05 GMT 1, I have a couple of pieces by Martin and love them, I also think he's a great artist. I like the tagging thing, but I agree, too, there has been too many pieces in that style recently.

If I had a MW canvas I would sell now, whilst it is still worth s**t.... Have a Paint Love canvas that I would never sell. All my non art friends always comment on it. I didn't buy it to sell I bought it because I love it!

If your not part of the gang ;-) That's how it rolls on here...
Nothing wrong with the artist , many agree nice guy , good execution in cutting stencils just too much with little meaning

Martin Whatson, Climber, by nacional on Dec 5, 2014 14:09:00 GMT 1, I think Urban Art (if you want to give it that handle) has evolved SO far from being tags...and especially in the case of artists, as opposed to gung-ho kids with spray cans (who might well evolve into being artists)..and this is me speaking as someone who would spray the Crass symbol everywhere I could, but quickly realised that was the limit of my, ahem, talent....if your definition of art and graff in general stops at tags then you need to seriously take a look at what it's all about...I don't think that it's comical...interesting perhaps...but at least I am glad you didn't tragically call it "ironic"....

If Martin carries on doing the same stencil and tags until it dries up, then I agree. But if he moves on from the tagging style with something new and original soon, I would say these old style tags would go up and up in value.

Martin Whatson, Climber, by daveart on Dec 5, 2014 15:44:57 GMT 1, at art basel Miami right now. MW just did a big mural of the dancer image and I can tell you it is getting good feedback. also gallery from Denver black book - is showing MW at Pulse art show and from standing around for a while they are getting some good interest with canvas pieces that are not exactly cheap. my 2cents - people on here see MW all the time and say it has run its course.. but the great big world out there is just hearing about him.. and now thousands and thousands of people that never heard of him are seeing this big mural in Wynwood Miami which is kind of the mecca of urban art in the usa i would say... i am not going to bet either way on his future but i do think his fan base grows from here.. 14K followers on Instagram make me think he can sell out editions of 100 or 200 anytime he wants.

Followers does not always mean end consumers .

Wow there you go .. Social media as we know it starts crumbling tomorrow .. The story will be in the newspaper print version only
No relevance ? Like zero relevance Like no correlation whatsoever Like statistical analysis is not needed or possible
Huh I am so glad to know this now
