Historical Photos, by fattyramone on Mar 27, 2015 0:14:04 GMT 1, The Aber-Fan disaster of 1966 when after years of tipping old coal slag onto a mountain with a running stream that over looked Pant Glas primary school it gave way and slid down the mountain as one enormous mass and swallowed up the school and all those in it, killing them either via suffocation or crushing.
116 children were killed and 28 adults.
Miners from throughout the Rhondda Valleys rushed to try and help dig them out (my dad included) but to little or no avail.
They were all buried in mass grave. ...note the burial photo consisted of coffins being placed on top of each other.
After being ordered to remove the mountain of coal slag that still existed over the village the sum of ยฃ150,000 was disgracefully taken from the disaster fund in order to pay for its removal. A sum that was only returned in 1997.

Historical Photos, by fattyramone on Mar 29, 2015 20:38:06 GMT 1, Nice candid shot of Photographer Bob Gruen taking a soon-to-become-iconic photo of John Lennon not long after he moved to NY. , 1974
Note the cut off sleeves that were only done to take that photo and of which a self-conscious Lennon needed constant reassurance from May Pang that he didn't look a berk.

Historical Photos, by Coach on Apr 5, 2015 23:12:50 GMT 1, I ought to add that I doubt that these photos will stay for long - my experience of photo bucket is that they have a somewhat puritanical view of nudity, even when it's art or art related. I have had many photos deleted for breaching their rules about this type of thing, all of them paintings of nudes, and tasteful ones I might add! What would Caravaggio think?!
