Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by tomhills1 on Apr 23, 2007 21:58:51 GMT 1, it looks ok to me, what you have to bear in mind is in 10 years time you will need substantial evidence to prove it's legitimacy. in theory, all the emails and the envolope etc should make it possible for LAZ to do so, notwithstanding the backlog. my advice would be to get that done then sell, it will be worth a lot more. as it stands it has no guarantee as to what it is - act in haste, repent at leisure.

Cheers and good luck with the sale.

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by tomhills1 on Apr 24, 2007 22:33:57 GMT 1, keep it you mug, it's worth so much more than f*cking money. to me it would be worth a few quid and have a nice story, for you it is so unique and personal - it's like selling your kid!!! actually sell a kidney before you sell that, you will regret it every waking moment of every day for the rest of your life.
please think about this carefully, you are obviously a massive fan of his and money is only money - cliche alert: you can't take it with you. i don't know your situation but surely there must be another way? if it were a print you could one day go out, buy another and replace it, this is totally unique to you and can never be replaced, no insurer, nothing.
i'm sure i'm not alone on this, maybe you'll change your mind.
edit: *no offence, but i stand by mug.* *for now*

But, hey thats really special and should be kept for you and you only. If you get the auth of Laz then sell it when you 70 and buy a nice stair lift with gold trimmings. Until then good luck dude. By the way tom. Download the new Modest Mouse album. Amazing!

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by tomhills1 on Apr 25, 2007 16:00:56 GMT 1, i know what you mean about having a little'un and credit cards too, it's not easy. sell the shirt off your back, the shoes off your feet and don't eat before you let this go.
win the lottery: buy a banksy canvas. if you sell this, not even a lottery win will get it back for you. yes, we all need money but this truly is something money can't buy.

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by tadghostal on Apr 25, 2007 22:49:24 GMT 1, By the way tom. Download the new Modest Mouse album. Amazing!
OK, Modest Mouse always makes me laugh. I have nothing to add to the actual purpose of this thread, but thought I'd share a mildly amusing story from the early days of the band as they're from the local area, and we all ran in the same circles back in those days.
When I was a sophomore in high school, Eric Judy's little sister was very close friends with a girl I was hooking up with, and for 3 or 4 years we'd run into each other all the time at parties and shows. "Modest Mouse" played at a bunch of house parties back in those days, and while they were a fun band (who sounded absolutely horrid at live shows), it was hard to be a fan because Brock was an absolute p*ick. Even though none of the local venues would book them, the guy acted like he was Mick Jagger--some super hero rock god--and he always tried to emphasize how "ladies threw themselves at him." We all (as in, me, my gal and her friends) thought that was hilarious because his band sucked (at the time they did--I'm serious, they got booed at the school talent show), and Brock in particular had no friends besides the band, and a really tough time with the ladies--he's a goofy looking dude who you could hardly talk to without getting drenched due to a massive spraying lisp.
Then, sophomore year in college--around October '96, I'm listening to a local indie rock station and catch "Talking s**t About a Pretty Sunset" and am blown away. Walk in the door at home, call Becca Judy and exclaim "Hey, I just heard your brothers band on the radio" and she went nuts, yelling the news to everybody else at the house.
Ended up buying the album, and have since been a huge fan. For being a total a-wipe, I have to say that Brock writes some of the wittiest, funniest and most interesting lyrics ever put to music.
Oh, prologue to the story--Eric Judy (Bassist for MM)--rewind to my Freshman year, his Junior year. A group of us are hanging out, smoking and bulls**tting about whatever. Eric pops in a Smiths album much to the chagrin of most of the people there. They start complaining about how Morrissey sings, and Eric replies "Shut the f**k up! Not many bands have ever had a song-writer as good as Morrissey, or a guitarist as good as Johnny Marr--let alone both." He used to idolize Jonny Marr. Now they're in the same band. Beautiful. I wonder if its all he imagined it would be. The album sure is good.
