Share the STIK love!, by urbanflik on May 22, 2016 20:11:15 GMT 1, I know this is not a price check thread and people are tired of talking Stik prices (!) but I'm keen to understand what a full set of 5 babies could make right now including Nude..what with so much hype around the artist right now..I keep looking at classic merc SL and I'm tempted to offload some of my collection to fund. Feel free to PM or hype away ? Cheers!

You've gotta figure a private sale, not an auction ยฃ25k ish including the nude.
That's gotta be about right surely?

Share the STIK love!, by tab1 on May 23, 2016 12:47:21 GMT 1, Some unscrupulous galleries enter work into charity auctions as the money is going to good causes and attracts good buyers and great pr,mostly the buyers do not actually care about the item being sold and the sale piece achieves well over the norm , their main concern is the money going to the charity , then this ripples through to all the people that have the same piece and they expect the same price . Some galleries use this practice as propels their represented artists sales and benifits the galleries new found extra inventorie of the auctioned piece that was previously sold out that now goes on to be sold at the new charity sold price
Not attaching Stik to this sales practice , as he genuinely helps the people in need and has a long standing passion for the nhs for the help he received , my point is charity sales do not really relate to the general market price, What ever the sales price was before the auction add ยฃ500 for the hype
Enter a dot dot dot , Dolk , whatson or chevier print into a charity auction and it achieves ยฃ8000 does that mean all the rest of the edition is worth that price?

If Stik would only release prints like Kaws does, I am sure we will not be seeing these crazy prices being asked by sellers. The same were true for Banksy. The current demand outstrips the existing inventory.

Another point of respect for the artist is he has always kept his editions small and not taken advantage of his popularity and released editions of 300 like some , but then this is his appeal and drives the high sums by releasing small editions that can't supply the demand
Not comparing , my point is charity sales have no relevance to the general market prices by using those artists Even with his small editions ยฃ7k upwards for his prints is way too much.
Going by how things are most of the genuine Stik fans are now priced out

The D*Face was donated to the V&A. Most institutions don't have the funds to buy work, and that includes The Tate who are in the lap of the high-earning artists and galleries.ย
No funds?? The Tate is just completing a ยฃ260million extension!
(The plans for which predate and then glided through the 2007/08 global financial meltdown)

"Genuine fans are priced out", what does this mean?? Are you suggesting that someone that pays a higher price for a print or original is not a genuine fan.

I don't understand how genuine fans are getting priced out as he seems to be pricing his prints for under 1k quid. The secondary market is what is pricing out everyone.

MOST if you spotted that , not ALL A few collected when he first started making art when prices were ยฃ25 for a mini canvas jump to now where prices are ยฃ1500 plus not all have the means to afford to collect now ..genuine collectors at all price levels but also when at a certain price point you have buyers that buy as a status symbol and for an investment Which ALL can't afford Secondary market talking about as release is affordable but with such tiny editions snapped up in nanoseconds

I can't name a single more accessible artist than stik at varying pricepoints. He recently had a print/poster in a ยฃ2.50 Big Issue and in a ยฃ12 book. If that's not an affordable price, I'm not sure what is.

Maybe it's old news, but I hadn't been round there in a long time - the big Stik carrying the smaller one is gone and the whole thing has been covered in skeletons - that look to me like Stik drew them.
I hope he's found a decent place keep working.
There's a site security sticker and quite a few broken windows too. It was quite sad to see.

The new piece is by Skeleton Cardboard. The old Stik was removed.

Give the man some credit, aa. "Skeleton Cardboard" Looks like yet another Basquiat biter.
Thanks - I've never heard of Skeleton Cardboard before. I've just had a quick Google and still think it looks like Stik did them!

He recently had a print/poster in a ยฃ2.50 Big Issue and in a ยฃ12 book. If that's not an affordable price, I'm not sure what is. I rarely hit the in quote key, but you couldn't be more right mate. Those book prints frame up beautifully. How big are the book prints and how easily do the creases come out?

PM if you don't wanna drag us away from Stik future values!

Go on to Artbleat. Harry has some photos of his work. If you are around shoreditch there's plenty of his work up. He has a FB as well
Back to stik
