What is the best way of protecting yourself when spending thousands on a single print. When you buy a Banksy print is getting a coa from pest control enough?
i know if you send the money via paypal you have a level of protection
im just a bit nervous about spending thousands of pounds on one print

Very good question..
'Protection' is what you get if you go down the auction house route and or that of a gallery... It could be argued. Having picked up a couple of bits and bobs over the years it was always a fear that I'd stumble upon some dodgy seller of ill repute , and yes it did happen , once..
Thinking about it must be even worse if you can't do the face to face , ie you're far away.
Trust needs to be a large part of the transaction , do your due diligence ! check out the seller and ask for a few references , people don't mind speaking the truth in the event of a ref check.
Take your time and if you get a bad vibe you're going to have to bite the bullet and walk away. It happens to us all , don't let your heid get in the way , it could be costly and messy if it doesn't ring the right bells for whatever reason.

Protection when buying a Banksy print, by Nick on Jan 4, 2015 22:34:46 GMT 1, It's just as easy to fake a COA as it is to fake a print, so i'd advise checking with PC who the registered owner of the print is, and cross checking this with your seller! In order for pest control to release this info they'll want photo's of print numbering and coa so get your seller to send these over before the exchange date.

PC should be able to confirm the current owner, especially if they've issued a COA.

Can you tell what images you've had? PC should be able to confirm the current owner, especially if they've issued a COA. |

I'm currently in the process of doing a deal this way and it's going great - one of the benefits of being on this worldwide forum |
