Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by samfrost on Jan 23, 2015 20:11:48 GMT 1, Why is everybody trying to buy Bambi... It's horrible enough for the little critter that his mom got shot... Classic gallery dilemma...the need to find artists to provide work to feed the client base. Heck many gallerists are known to punt artists who don't produce enough work to sell through to the galleries.
Banksy certainly does not fit the profile, which is why you'll hear continual sniping about his work from many gallerists representing other urban and contemporary artists.
If I only had a nickel for everytime I inquired about a work by Banksy and was quickly moved to works from other, more "active" artists. Yet, whenever I have had something to sell from Banksy I'm quickly met with generous offers to handle on consignment or outright purchase.

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by Gard on Jan 24, 2015 20:21:14 GMT 1, The Conor piece will do well. Auctions houses try to make sure that the first lot sells above top estimate so that it sets the mood for the rest of the auction. Hopefully the Miaz brother will do well. Big celebrity collectors for those guys and it's the front cover of the catalog so it's a piece they want to do well.
I really don't understand why there's a pause with design furniture between the paintings and the Banksy prints. Auctions are not that fun to sit through so I think a few of the buyers for the paintings will leave before the Banksy pieces are under the hammer. To me it looks like they are aiming at different collectors for the paintings and the prints.

I love sitting through auctions even if I'm not buying. I thought everyone did!

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by foreman on Jan 28, 2015 7:40:51 GMT 1, Great pics thomess ! Thank you for sharing.
How's the condition on these prints in general? Did Steve take good care of the lot? Wonder if he just looked at the prints as cheap chachkies compare to the originals he hoarded. The la prints on the right side of that wide shot appear wavy from the float mounting (Could be the lighting) Is that just me? That quad soup can print has that dent at the bottom in the middle. And that rude copper paper looks crumpled up then flattened out.
Gonna be interesting to see what these end up going for! Good luck to anyone bidding.
