Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by met on Jul 12, 2015 0:20:44 GMT 1, Dice - re Girl With Balloon - i believe they were all 50cm .. but not all by 70cm .. met ? nu ? care to add Sorry, I don't have a definitive answer. That's a question for Pest Control, if anyone fears their secondary market screenprint might have been trimmed by a previous owner without disclosure.
But given the size of the edition, it wouldn't surprise me if it was printed in batches at different times. Pictures On Walls may not have been consistent with the paper measurements (or, for that matter, even the specific type of paper used).
I've seen small variations, for example, with the contemporaneous print and similarly-large edition, Bomb Hugger / Bomb Love. They suggest the use of slightly different-coloured ink with different prints in the edition (as was the case with Morons (Sepia)), and perhaps also the printing of the edition having been completed with more than one set of screens.
Those who recall POW's release of Judgement Day by Antony Micallef at Santa's Ghetto in 2006 may remember this edition of 500 was divided between and printed on two different types of paper.

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by Unica on Jul 12, 2015 12:53:47 GMT 1, So is the consensus that GWB came in two different sizes 50cm x 70cm and 50cm x 66 cm?
Is the larger version more sought after than the smaller? Size matters I would imagine. I see signed versions came in both sizes as Lionel Gallery have a signed version 50x70cm.
There is a clipped GWB signed version on Global Art Traders 36cm x 56cm for Β£37k if anyone is looking.

I remember thinking, "it's not too badly priced for an exhibit show...hmm" then BAM it was sold. I'm kicking myself for not making a impulse buy...and now much like that F'in ballon is our of little girl's reach...so is this print from mine. Ahh the irony! LOL

Seems very hopeful IMO but then I believe it's the first one to go through a major auction house.

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by DMH on Oct 12, 2015 19:42:57 GMT 1, None of the auction houses are particularly forthcoming with highlighting defects - it's very much a case of buyer beware which p1sses me off bearing in mind the number of Internet bidders there must be. Not sure a bit of cropping would knock vast amounts off the price in any event though?

Was this the one that was shorter than it should have been? Have no idea why but Bonham's seems to list and measure these prints in millimeters which is above the usual tolerance when cutting, so some are one or two mm more or less. This one upcoming is a whole 1mm shorter.

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by Winter on Oct 12, 2015 21:06:19 GMT 1, Having re-read it appears the dimensions in the catalogue were wrong and it was amended in the Saleroom Notes (below). Always worth checking dimensions though, some find it easier (and probably quicker) to slice the damage off than give it the Bignell treatment.
Banksy (British, born 1975) Balloon Girl Screenprint in black and red, 2004, on wove, signed, dated and inscribed A.P D.N 79/150 in pencil, an artist's proof, published by Pictures on Walls, London, the full sheet, 653 x 592mm (25 5/8 x 23 1/4in)(SH) FOOTNOTES This work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Pest Control Office. SALEROOM NOTICES Please note the sheet measures 659 x 499mm as issued and not as stated in the catalogue.
