with all due respect, I have never bought into the idea of an A/P being worth anymore than any of the other prints in an edition - just because something is signed differently doesn't mean anything, imho.
maybe there won't be an increase in the value of his prints right off the bat but, I think eventually we may be looking at the next Banksy - just my opinion - not trying to hype up the potential sale of my print - in fact, in formulating my thoughts about Nick - I may be better off holding onto this -

Nick Walker - Morning After Bristol Print, by noodles1 on Feb 6, 2008 0:57:35 GMT 1, I dont think theres room for the next Bansky! Mark my words, as talented as Nick Walker is, this is gonna be jus another Micallef episode. Everyone selling and buying his work with all the hype. Its funny tho, all the time I have been on this forum (dont be fooled by my New Member status) Nick has hardly been mentioned besides the odd Mona Simpson being sold. Then as if he had jus arrived on the scene, everyones a fan. Even the most experienced and passionate of urban Art collectors on ere didnt see this coming but will all jump on the Art bandwagon, proclaim ignorance and fight tooth and nail that they have been a fan since they got a free Mona Simpson postcard with a Dead Rebels print the bought off EBay. As I said...this is an episode imo, not knocking Nick and his talent, jus the $ signs in the eyes of apparent Art COLLECTORS, it makes me laugh... ;D

Nick Walker - Morning After Bristol Print, by noodles1 on Feb 6, 2008 1:11:39 GMT 1, His new work is excellent, I love it! its jus obvious that its the money that makes this Urban Art scene tick nowdays and its a real shame as it was never meant to be... Although i will admit, when i buy now, i ask myself a question that i didnt b4, 'wot will this be worth in the future?' I hate that its come to that, but thats life.

Nick Walker - Morning After Bristol Print, by alsbabar on Feb 6, 2008 1:12:12 GMT 1, noodles I agree 100% with your view. Nick is a talent that is for sure, but no way the new Banksy. I find Nick's work sometime borders repetitive and not very imaginative. Nicks work doesnt challenge the intellect, but something that is geared to be more pleasing upon the eye. Banksys' work is intelligent art, and it encompasses religion and politics, and that is how he has become the figure that he is.
Until we see Nick move his art from pleasing to the eye to shock and awe, I am afraid he is just another artist who uses nice colours.

And that comment from alsbabar "Until we see Nick move his art from pleasing to the eye to shock and awe, I am afraid he is just another artist who uses nice colours" that made me crease up, what are you now alsbabar, some kind of self styled art guru. you do talk such crap!

Well this was the point of my original post. He is finally getting the recognition he deserves and has done alot more than the "vandal' stuff. My other point is that alot on ere are all of a sudden' fans because of the hype and although they 'may genuinely like his latest stuff, I cant help feeling they like it more because of the money involved with his work at the mo and nothing to do with his whole career which is alot more than 'Paint Splodges'. If this is the case, then the market will soon get bored if he continues his new winning formula, thus another Micallef episode, which IMO makes alsbabar's point you ridiculed, a valid one.

Nick Walker - Morning After Bristol Print, by colonelkurtz on Feb 6, 2008 9:54:49 GMT 1, noodles, you are full of sh1t.
The TMA series are v. desirable because they showcase nicks stencil work and the look v.cool (bar the hollywood one which is horrible!).
People want art because it looks good. There is no more to it than that. YOU on the other hand go against most of the grain of this forum because you buy to resell. FLIPPER. If you are thinking about what it will be worth in the future, you aren't buying for what you like, you are a flipper.
Quote "then the market will soon get bored if he continues his new winning formula, thus another Micallef episode"
When the fu*k has a winning formula ment you end up losing... what fu*king idiot.
Nick has produced an amazing series of work, which is v.desirable because:
A; it looks good. B: he's been in graf for years, thus he has heritage.
This means, dum dum, it will go up in value! Because people want it, not because of the hype, the hype is coming from having a massive showcase in LA (on the forum you seem to have missed it) which has come from hardwork and now more people are seeing his work, bigger market = more money = increase in prices.
Please noodles shut up - you are a boring negative flipping idiot with an over complicated view of the "urban art" scene, who is unprepared to let an artist get credit where credit is due.
Hype - people taking about work to intentionally increase prices Show in LA - might give something for people to discuss.
There is a difference.

Please read my posts again and you may see my point and my appologies if I didnt make this clearer.

Nick Walker - Morning After Bristol Print, by robinbanks on Feb 6, 2008 10:31:16 GMT 1, Getting my London TMA back from Mister Frameman tomorrow (fingers crossed). I can honestly say I've not been as excited as this in a long time.
I went to the BRP show last year and fell in love with it immediately. I couldn't really care less if it's worth twice or ten times what I paid for it now. I wouldn't even be bothered if it was worth a tenth what I paid for it.
I bought it because I think it's brilliant - not because of hype or investment. And, I think this is the reason why Nick's market is so strong right now - because his work is so good - people are buying it for the right reasons. Not because of some artificial hype generated by a gallery or a forum.
PS - I'll post pics as soon as it gets here. ;D

Its the only one of the series I truely like TBH, which is why its the only one I will own. Although I will be at BRP on the 16th I wont be buying the Hollywood version as Its not as nice IMO. I'll be cueing 4 D*Face.

Cover of the indi , yhis weeks time out, was in metro and london paper etc, he work is very good (and accessible ) I too await my morning after from mr frameman tomorrow !!! and am very excited, the diference between walker and micallef is that i can see the man on the street liking walker wheras they may be turned off by micallef ...only my opinion of course!! Oh and i think we are already seeing an increase on eBay as two TMA just went for around the 1300 mark whereas last week you could get one for around 800!!
