Kunstrasen Appreciation Thread, by Unica on Aug 9, 2015 23:16:58 GMT 1, Have you looked into shipping them over? Be happy to split costs with you as i could do with 4 of them. That might not be a bad idea, although i've bought a few. I still can't figure out if its glass or plexi, it doesn't actually say on the packaging. If anybody knows please chime in. I'm also considering dismantling one spraying it white as I think a couple of my canvases would look better in white but the frame only comes in black.

Not one of the unique colour AP's but i have this turning up any moment from Phil. Midnight Edition number 5 out 5. It's 70cmx70cm of awesomeness and i can't wait for it to arrive.

Kunstrasen Appreciation Thread, by Happy Go Lucky Chap on Aug 9, 2015 23:49:06 GMT 1, Unica From memory, I think this Spot Remover is 70cm x 70cm. It is numbered from an "edition" of 5, although all 5 are completely different, so really a 1/1. It needs a layer or two of varnish as the foam packaging left an imprint on the varnish on the surface of the canvas. I will get around to this next week, and post pics when I have it on the wall.
I also have a silver and gold Frowning Monkey, which looks great next to the multicoloured Smiler.

Kunstrasen Appreciation Thread, by Matt on Aug 10, 2015 9:59:42 GMT 1, I will ask pauli frames how much they would charge in comparison.
Another option is getting tray frames online.
I remember finding online a UK based company that does 50x50 (perfect for spot remover or recent pieces) and 60x60 (perfect for the large fencers) tray frames in black or white (several depths and widths to choose from as well as spacing between canvas and frame) and I think they were around 40 GBP before delivery fees
Will look up if I can find them but might be an option and easier than the U.S.

They have standard and DIY box frames for 50x50 and 60x60 in standard color ways (natural, black and white), for canvases of 4cm depth which is the depth of Phil's, and other options (frame thickness, distance between canvas and frame)
The cost pre-shipping is between 40 and 50 GBP.
Have never ordered though so can not vouch for quality. If someone does try i would love the feedback

I'm also going to have a look at the Ikea frames, RIBBA, see if they're at all suitable. Theyre only ยฃ9 ! so worth a punt to try ! I'll let you know how it goes.

Kunstrasen Appreciation Thread, by Matt on Aug 11, 2015 20:24:59 GMT 1, I have some RIBBA frames for my LP's like Roots Manuva or Dirty Funker, and they look great.
Not sure I can fit a Kunstrasen 50x50 though ? Will give it a try as I have an empty one laying around
60x60 will not fit that is for sure

Kunstrasen Appreciation Thread, by Matt on Aug 11, 2015 21:50:14 GMT 1, Ah, ok, let us know how it goes. i'll do some more research Would not advise it. - Took a RIBBA 50x50 and took out the inner frame (that is used to give a box frame effect) so to have the full width. - Used my Kunstrasen "Che" which is also (50x50) and tried to slide it in
It almost fits but not quite, probably 1-2mm missing on each side. You could force it in but there is a very big chance the metal hinges that hold the backboard in place will rip the canvas, and if that doesn't happen on the way in it probably will on the way out...
So tray frame still looks best for the moment unless someone can find a 51x51 cheap standard frame ?

Thats disappointing as I wanted a white one, I had no problems with the Michaels 50x50 shadow box for 3 of my Kunstrasen pieces. I still haven't been able to figure out if the Michaels boxes are glass or plexi, anyone know the answer?
