A Romantic Comedy with Urban Art  Expensive Art. Retnas art appears on all sorts of amercian tv and film stuff.

And no Neil Blomkamp; would be harder to find non-urban art in those.

I've seen a couple of the Pure Evil drippy eye crap on some English shows but can't recall which one at the moment. I think one of them was some couples therapy crap that the Mrs watches.

and FWIW, you should absolutely see 'Children of Men' if you haven't yet; really great film. and now he has 'Gravity' under his belt so it's even almost high-brow now.

the artist Bask was heavily featured in Iron Man III. .. Apparently Robert Downey jr saw some of his art and asked for the artist to be used in the movie. 1xrun actually did an iron man print for bask that was pretty cool

Without giving too much information away, I can tell you that this is going to happen alot more in the future, as galleries and agents have set themselves up to be a middle man for this exact kind of thing.

Between making insanely detailed stencil paintings (working on getting my work out there) my 9-5 is a position as a graphic artist / graphic designer for future films right now. I design everything from signage, vehicles, prop labels and screens, monitor graphics and faux artwork, faux floring and wallpaper, as well as t-shirt design, mock-ups, and photo-manipulations. Most shows are in Chicago that I work on, but recently did some work for the new Jurassic Park movie and a Wachowski Project called Sense8 for Netflix. It helps pay the bills, and opens me up to a whole world that most people would not believe (the things I've seen and been witness to....).

Anyways, we source this stuff out from galleries and agencies that help supply cleared work to facilitate a look. Artists based in LA or NYC tend to have more connections in this world (strictly speaking of American TV and Film) but quite often, it's a matter of right place, right time, or a decorator finding something online and sourcing it out. Some of the past shows I've worked on, I personally reach out to artists that I know or think can work... speeds things up when they know it's me on the other end, but other times the pieces are from directors/producers actual collections. Most of the time, we agreed on a price to feature it, and either use a digital or rented piece.

The worst part of my job, is there's a lot of people that think they know everything about street art / urban art because they watched exit through the gift shop. I have been asked the question 'Do you know who Banksy is?' more times than I care to count. But to each its own.

I remember seeing the Dave White print 'Bang Bang' in the office of the chaps of the tv show the 'IT Crowd'. They had a load of other art but didn't recognise any of the work.
