Cope2 ๐บ๐ธ New York Graffiti โข Fernando Carlo, by curbsandstoops on Dec 24, 2009 4:57:56 GMT 1, Hey guys check out the new show on the Curbs and Stoops interactive gallery featuring the works of Cope2.
Cope2 grew up in the public housing projects in the late 1970s. He came to graffiti like everyone else in those days, at an age when young men and women began to explore the urban labyrinth where we all lived. Active in the graffiti scene since 1978, Cope2 has grown to become an ambassador for New York graffiti. Cope2 has a roster of accomplishment including commissions by Time Life Magazine, an apperance in Marc Eckoโs 2006 video game, Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure and a documentary on his life. Despite his success, Cope2 remains the same rugged graffiti artist he was in the 1980s.
You can find the interactive gallery show at : www.curbsandstoops.com/blog/?page_id=64
Any help in spreading the word would be appreciated.
About Curbs and Stoops: Curbs and Stoops is a non profit organization that is working towards increasing the accessibility of art across a diverse range of socioeconomic and cultural communities. Like our name suggests, we promote art at the thresholds that define our cities, our curbs and our stoops. This way, art is not a destination, like going to a museum. Instead, it is a part of our journey. We fulfill our mission by implementing public art projects, community installations and street art. We attempt to exploit the extents of interactive media in order to provide fine art to those who cannot afford gallery prices. We believe in the necessity for the accessibility of art. Art is no longer for bankers and heiresses.

Check out the COPE 2 "True Legend" Show. A dope collection of paintings, drawings, hand painted trains and maps. COPE2 graces the cyber walls of DirtyPilot now through May 13. Check it out now.
COPE2โs paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and auctions throughout the United States and abroad, including the Guernsey and the Philip De Pury & Company auctions, the McCaig Welles Gallery, The Showroom Gallery and The Bronx Museum of Arts in New York City; the Crewest Gallery in Los Angeles; the Fifty24SF Gallery in San Francisco; the Defiance Gallery in Chicago; the Skalitzers Gallery in Berlin; The Gallizia Collection in Paris; the Artdrenaline Gallery in Den Haag, Holland and The Federation Atrium Square Gallery in Sydney, Australia.
www.dirtypilot.com/lounge.html
Also on view in the Pilots lounge, are several series of of amazing Woodcuts & Linocuts by artist Dennis McNett. These works will be showing now through May 11 at DirtyPilot.
Dennis McNett was born in 1972 and grew up in Virginia Beach, VA. He moved to New York in 2001. He has been carving surly block prints for over 17 years. His encouragement as a kid came from his blind grandfather, who told him over and over again that his drawings were good. Later influences came from the raw high-energy graphics pouring out of the early 80โs skateboard and punk rock scene. Participating in both the fine art and design worlds, Dennis has been fortunate enough to create board graphics for Anti-Hero skateboards, design shoes for Vans, and participate in the Deitch Artparade. His work has been featured in The New York Times, Juxtapoz magazine, Thrasher and Complex Magazine. He wants to live until he dies. Breathing is good.

Thanks for the nicefeed back geoffw :-)
As I am sure you all know Cope2 is all about his classic throw up. The one we all know and love. When making this print the first throw up was made by hand then it was digitally duplicated for the rest of the image. This is a digital mock up of a original canvas. All of the prints are hand signed and numbered by Cope.
Here is a detail shot of his Cope tag and embossed corner.
They are selling very fast. A lot of people are buying 2 or 3 at a time, I think the eBay investors are feeling hungry. I just want to say thanks to everyone who helped make this print run happen. Enjoy

DirtyPilot.com Presents: COPE2 & INDIE184 Starting today - through June 18. An amazing 2 person show featuring new and older works. Collaborative and solo canvas and paper artworks.
Indie184 is a graffiti artist and graphic designer hailing from Washington Heights, New York City. Growing up all over NYC she began to participate in the graffiti culture in 2001. Determined to express herself to the world through art, she quit business college to teach herself how to sew, paint and produce graphic design. Influenced by all things colorful, happy and sexy. She is known for her classic New York simple yet playful feminine graffiti style infused with exuberant bold colors bursting with hearts, stars and bubbles. You can find her graffiti pieces in the streets from the South Bronx to Oslo. Indie's graffiti was featured the record breaking Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV video game. Her current endeavors include directing her streetwear brand Kweenz Destroy, curating art exhibitions and producing graphic design work for Pro-Keds, Super Rad Toys and Bic Plastics to name a few. Catch her painting in the streets, studio or or producing her next fashion collection.
Cope2 was born and raised in the South Bronx, New York City, in 1968. COPE2โs paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and auctions throughout the United States and abroad.
