Original Banksy art Sold in miami for artweek, by randomname on Jan 23, 2015 21:20:58 GMT 1, I wouldn't say Bambi is a fake artist. I would say she's a bad artist with no real creativity, talent or original thought. The hype around her, however, I would say is fake. Unsubstantiated reports of celebrities spending large sums of money on her art feel manufactured. She demonstrated the actual market for her work when she knocked off Banksy's spray art stunt. For anyone who missed it, she did the same thing except she promoted it ahead of time and basically sold her art at market value on the street. Which is roughly the same as you'd pay for a couple pints and an order of fish and chips. Sadly some of the bigger names in the game seem to have creativity, talent, original thought issues. I just don't understand why they get passes and everyone jumps over poor bambi. I've seen just about every artist mentioned on here criticized at one point or another. Bambi just happens to be especially shitty as an artist. She also kind of brings it on herself by referring to herself as "the female Banksy."

Do you guys actually think she believes she's 'the female banksy'?

I just don't understand why they get passes and everyone jumps over poor bambi. If as an artist you sell art for very large sums of money without any history of genuine secondary market sales to dictate true market value and on top of that your work receives no credit from anyone on the art scene except the few greedy bastard moral less dealers who sell her work onto naive people in deceitful and manipulative ways with the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow stradegy, alongside a talent level of a high school art student you will and should imo be giving a good public spit roasting without the pleasure...its a farce and shameful
What do you know about Bambi's sales?
So what's worse your hypothetical or the same narrative but then those works sell for double on the secondary market because of greed and deceit. Isn't that a farce and shameful?

Original Banksy art Sold in miami for artweek, by Deleted on Jan 23, 2015 21:46:11 GMT 1, If you don't own any Bambi art you must be related because nobody would go to the lengths to defend her as strongly as you do! My appreciation of art is very simple. If I like the image and it brings me joy then I consider buying it. I'm not one for looking into the deep arty meaning of the piece. I really appreciate the quality of street art as most of the time proper street artists have limited time to construct whatever they want to show. There are plenty of second rate artists discussed on this forum and I agree Bambi's work may not be not be any worse than this, but at least they don't have a management stroke PR team stoking up great stories about them.

I just don't understand why they get passes and everyone jumps over poor bambi. My cat said this to me:
For me, I don't even care about the art anymore. I have nothing personally against "Bambi", but I don't think I'm exactly the kind of person they'd mix with. Different circles, etc. But when it appears that team Bambi leak celebrity gossip stories to the press, regarding Bambi art purchases, in what amounts to little more than product placement, I find that distasteful. Not even in a street art sense. Just in a consumerism sense.
That kind of celebrity endorsement is a cancer of our times. It doesn't matter what's real or good for you, just as long as people have read it or seen it in the media. "Take a look at what we're selling, people!" We live in an age when celebrities will endorse products they don't even like, and we're supposed to ooh and aah over a fizzy drink or perfume that celebrity X has been paid to promote. And as we've seen with the Kanye/Bambi "commission" piece, the celebrities can even endorse a product without even knowing about it.
All artists use the press to their advantage. The difference is, when Banksy, Koons, Hirst, even Brainwash say they've done something through the press or their PR team, or it's leaked that a celebrity has purchased their work, chances are, that's probably true.
Bambi acquires "cool" and credibility through celebrity gossip column inches. Through the odd piece of street art here and there (perhaps on friendly walls). Constant self-association with Banksy. And little reminders to the public of what you are, by using "Bambi Street Artist" as your Twitter and Facebook names.
It's like the only thing that matters is to get your foot in the door. Once you're in, you're in.
In this time of watered down graffiti/street art on t-shirts, caps, skateboards, iPhone cases, is it wrong to want the next generation of artists to be real? Genuine? F**king say something, don't just sell something.
Bambi Inc. aren't the only ones trying to sell a brand. They're just one of the more obvious. They're not breaking any laws. But then maybe that's the problem?
Oh, and I can't support anyone that creates a sympathetic portrait of a ruling monarch.

But but but. He just said they sell for large amounts by people ripping off others. Surely there has to be some receipt of these transactions

I dont own any I know many who bought into the "21st century Warhol, female banksy saga" in the belief(due to the detritus they were spoon feed) they were buying a credible investible artist....they canny get f**king rid o them, nobody wants them, even the feckwits that sold them as a great future investment dont want any returns in trade for "anything". I know what many people paid.....too much. Please do share. I'll take them depending on image and price! Let me know! Its not something id partake in tbh, im sure if you do a fs thread somebody will, ah hmm, help you out in your search

Original Banksy art Sold in miami for artweek, by Dr Plip on Jan 24, 2015 1:10:31 GMT 1, Definitely more then that. Not bad for a days work! Murkke, if you happen to have any connections, could you please make sure to hold one Burka Lady for me for a couple of months, please. I lost all my street cred by liking that piece so I might as well enjoy Bambi the full, now that I paid such a high price for defending her Bambi. If you're reading this, I know that Nordicstar is an honest fan of your work and would genuinely like, no love, a Burka Lady print. If you could find it in your heart to gift her an AP or to offer her one at "mates rates", I would respect you for it.
Edit: And my cat knows who you are.

Original Banksy art Sold in miami for artweek, by Deleted on Jan 24, 2015 1:31:50 GMT 1, You can measure Bambi's popularity by how many streetpieces have been lifted - not even that mercenary f**kwit Bankrobber is interested.
I drive through Camden daily, and i gringe when i see a piece up, i am always half tempted to crash my car in to it.
Is Lenny villas still bigging her up?

There is so much true crap and hatred out there, better to try to find the beauty in things. I do love the Burka for really real. I start to understand that Bambi is not for real, but oh how I wish. We should hook up for a lesbo session, youre probably out of my league but i have soft skin and a strong back Ps if i get a burka it will be yours Pps i have a weak back and callus fingertips, i wouldnt want you to be disappointed if we ever met so best im upfront

Original Banksy art Sold in miami for artweek, by tuftynuts on Jan 24, 2015 15:59:58 GMT 1, You have to be careful with fake Banksys as some of them aren't even proper fakes. Make sure they are genuine fakes before you part with your hard earned cash. Or t-shirts.
