Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by jusdeep on Feb 6, 2015 9:22:55 GMT 1, I don't think many were there to make a quick buck at all, obviously that was on a few peoples minds. But ultimately there was nothing promised and nothing delivered. No idea about the lone canvas raffle but could be highest bid, most comical or just randomly pulled out tombola style. Personally I had a fun night catching up with friends and forumites, eating cheese and speculating. There were a few miffed people moaning but mostly a fun night was had. It's a novel idea for a show a look forward to seeing how it develops over the next few weeks.

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by maxf on Feb 6, 2015 9:40:06 GMT 1, I think it was the lack of the 'purchase a bit of wall on spec' which didn't happen and nobody running the show knew anything about which annoyed people.
Not the 'possibility' of a sketch or the empty walls - we knew about those.

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Petrusino on Feb 6, 2015 9:55:38 GMT 1, I think Dran spent the first day to draw all the frames, then I think he was not much in the mood to be around people and talk of empty frames. The show runs until February 21st. The best is yet to come ...

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by kfroms on Feb 6, 2015 9:58:43 GMT 1, If anybody picked up a piece of cheese that they now have second thoughts about. I would be happy to pay full postage costs. I'm not a flipper and it will not end up on ebay. I just like cheese! Pm sent. Seriously I wanted to frame it, but my wife doesn't like it at all, and I dont think it deserves living in the folder under the bed.

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Dr Plip on Feb 6, 2015 9:59:03 GMT 1, Meeting the general public is unpleasant at the best of times. I can't imagine how stressful it must feel to be in a room full of people that are expecting art from you.

This cheese story makes me remember this drawing, from an awesome and lovely West-Indian girl working at the Royal Albert hall ( I worked then in the caves as storekeeper of the kitchens ) , who were often visiting me ( she was so.... WOW, I should then go to her invitation at her party, but I did not, shy French man that I am ) ... Well she made this drawing behind my sketch book... Next Dran to come ?

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Shoot Again on Feb 6, 2015 10:29:04 GMT 1, Not sure what the over all goal was here but no art and no display schedule, then when pieces emerg, dropping bids on pieces in a box in hopes to be the lucky one who out bid everyone else.. Was this actually planned or are they making it up as they go? Knowing the temperament of Dran and some of the stories I have heard about how he currently feels about working in a gallery and so Forth, I think this would be the only possible way he would actually do a show. Under his own terms even if that means not painting much at all or on the wall, or whatever he woke up feeling he wanted to do without the pressure of selling or a Gallery expecting sales. This format gives him Freedom to do as he pleases and not as what the gallery, the collectors or his fans want from him. I was recently told he would not be exhibiting or working in a gallery anytime soon so this was a surprise, but the format explains alot and allows him to freely express himself. I am curious if he is painting works to hang in those squares or paint directly on the wall, I would guess it would be a combination of the two and those bidding on wallspace could actually be bidding on a work that will display within that square if they are so adventurous to do so. Spot on !

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Dibbs 45 on Feb 6, 2015 10:41:28 GMT 1, It was nice to catch up with people last night and eat cheese. However Dran the man come outside to help get the cheese and wine in from the car whilst we queued, then when the show opened not be seen again. Bit strange that you are at the show but then not to come out of the back office.

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Deleted on Feb 6, 2015 10:41:53 GMT 1, If you think this is a great concept, then I am really sorry - do not take personal offense to this - but if you think Dran f**king with you and wasting your time having your marvel at blank walls while he laughs at you eating cheese is a great concept, then I simply do not know what to say about the art world anymore. This may be it for me. Regardless of what you think happened, you were drawn to a space for Dran art (or money for some apparently; don't know why the hell someone would buy a blank wall as advertised), and got a load of nothing. Not even nothing; you got nothing while the artist sat feet away and ate cheese and laughed at you looking at what he almost certainly knows is not creative at all.Was it a nice night out for some? No doubt. Did Dran contribute to that night? Only in your imagination and anticipation. This was a big runaround, and now you're sublimating the experience. You all have been f**ked in the ass by Dran. Yes, just for one night; he'll make it up to you in the coming weeks. He'll make up for it in more ways than you can imagine, because he is a GENIUS (zero sarcasm). But tonight? Cheese in the butthole. All in it. This is exactly the mindless opinionless nonsense that made me rant in that other thread about that artist from that place with those things. Don't miss the nothing giveaway thread

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by 11 on Feb 6, 2015 10:55:23 GMT 1, This thread has already become a joke People keep making all sorts of aspersions about all being there for the ยฃ. Seems we're not allowed to enjoy art and want it on the wall - just to make ยฃยฃยฃ
I went for the chance to watch him paint, I didn't think for one minute I would be getting a sketch as the clamour would be mental. POW's only failing on this was getting a lot of people there under false pretences and so some camped by the door to grab dran as soon as he appeared which just sent him into hiding
I was told the blind bidding was entirely up to the person for what they offered - financial gain was not the objective - a witty story, sketch, abuse or a If you wanted, monetary bid....and the impression I got was it was unlikely to go for a monetary bid
This whole place has become a shithole of late with unnecessary commentary on the value of everything and nasty attacks on people for the most innocent of posts, the double standards and hypocrisy are hilarious

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Art Fan 2011 on Feb 6, 2015 11:02:24 GMT 1, I could not make the show, and although that was a disappointment after seeing the pictures and reading about it im pretty glad I did not make the effort!!
If I was an artist, or infact any one with a "brand" or product that was in demand and had a queue of hundreds of people begging to spend their hard earned cash with me I would be only to delighted to take their cash off them. Perhaps im old fashioned but the whole idea of an art show put on by an artist is to show what the artist can do, show off his/her skills/talents and give an insight into what makes them tick and why they do what they do, plus where possible have pieces for fans to purchase.
Dran prints/originals are so hard to come by on the secondary market, im sure im not the only one that would like to add some Dran to their collection, but unless he produces the work that will be impossible.
It all seems very strange to me, and I can certainly see why so many collectors/fans felt let down. Lets hope that POW have some thing good lined up for 2015 rather than "weird" so called "shows" or selling off dead stock from their "secret vault" like we saw last year.

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Chrisp on Feb 6, 2015 11:26:00 GMT 1, I have it on good authority speculation, that the upcoming DRAN x POW release will be a giclee reproduction of a photo from yesterdays opening. Those that attended yesterday have become the art. Congratulations. Each purchase of the print comes complete with a vacuum sealed cheese slice for complete provenance. Start the queue now.
Those two Drans pretty much sum it up. His feelings and thoughts come across quite strong in his work. Yes a clever and talented guy, who I would imagine is quite shy of the attention he receives. We all know he struggles with the flip side and the amount his work commands now. Can't wait to see the finally of this.

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Deleted on Feb 6, 2015 11:36:12 GMT 1, See this show for what it is - the opening is the closing, the closing the opening. Traditionally, openings have been about the art on walls and red dots - this is imo is brilliant - and the chatter will go on for weeks as will the show. So those that went last night - you lucky bastards. This is a great show in the making. Reminds me a bit like Cans Festival

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Dr Plip on Feb 6, 2015 11:48:41 GMT 1, "I was told the blind bidding was entirely up to the person for what they offered - financial gain was not the objective - a witty story, sketch, abuse or a If you wanted, monetary bid....and the impression I got was it was unlikely to go for a monetary bid" I hope that's true. That sounds like a brilliant way to do it and I hope people were creative with what they offered. I mean, even if you couldn't offer money for it, you could trade or offer your time for a worthy cause or something. I love that idea.
I hope people will calm down and give Dran the chance to create whatever he wants. I'd also love to watch him work, but I don't know if he'd appreciate me gawping at him all day. I think the show is a fun idea. It's creative, spontaneous and I hope people give him a bit of slack. No need to be so serious about it all.

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Deleted on Feb 6, 2015 11:58:14 GMT 1, That explains everything, after all it's not just the bit between the legs that's different.
Don't see that anyone can complain about this opening, POW did say there would be white walls and the general public may not be welcome. They didn't let anyone down, like the idea of something being given away for the most credible reason and that not being money, they should raffle it for Shelter / similar?
