Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Deleted on Feb 6, 2015 0:21:18 GMT 1, was an interesting night. Buu to those slagging off the fact there was nothing for sale (yet), who cares, its still early, and fun going along and meeting people in real life - its nice to actually get out of my hovel now an then... bonus that the cheese was was flowing and the drinks were nicely matured...
I think the beer was called Inkspot? Very nice

This is like when I was with a friend at MoMA and he was trying to justify us being there looking at a broken printer in its retail box on the ground that they were calling an exhibit.
And then we left and walked a few blocks and saw a broken printer in its retail box on the side of the road. And realized that MoMA and the artist are full of s**t in that regard, but none more than my friend justifying our and the printer's presence at MoMA.

Pretty much agree with that. Was good to put some more faces to names. Will pop back in over the next couple of weeks and see what happens. The pow guys at the end didn't even seem sure when the whole thing would finish.

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by letiss on Feb 6, 2015 0:53:23 GMT 1, I can't express how happy I am that the clowns who lined up for hours went home empty handed. Art shows should not turn into consumer frenzies. What a curious view of art shows you have. I assume that if say Banksy decided to drop a print, you'd much prefer instead a nice conceptual instillation of white walls? Maybe you're one of the few that doesn't actually want to take some art home and love it in your own environment?
The show tonight was an unbridled and unabridged shower of sh!te. It was the worst possible 'exhibition' of pretentiousness dressed up as 'art' and a complete embarrassment to the urban art genre. There was nothing of note at all, other than two poorly executed canvasses. As for the artist, he hid in the back room, like a little girl that was looking for her my little pony; all rather sad and what a difference to the previous vibrant POW Dran shows.
To show this isn't sour grapes, lets look at the show flyer, which stated you can: "purchase a piece" - The reality was you couldn't purchase one at all and instead you could put a random bid in an unmarked box.
or
"Perhaps pick up a personalised sketch" Well perhaps if the artist had stopped eating cheese in the back room.
All in all it was complete rubbish. But, I genuinely hope that the show recovers and does well, and that it produces some amazing art but this was a very arrogant way for Dran to kick off after a five year hiatus.

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by minibear on Feb 6, 2015 0:58:57 GMT 1, They've got the space until the 20th/21st February. Asked if there would be a closing party, had a genuine "yeah, maybe we should" reply from POW. Said there weren't any plans for anything to be sold on.
Couple more pictures for those still not getting the gist of how the show went so far.
I think it's cool there's no apparent commercial angle here, like Phlegm's last London outing. Hopefully we'll all be able to catch some great art from Dran over the coming weeks, that's what we're all here for, right.
Sketch on wall next to canvas (next photo) that's apparently having offers taken on (strips of blank paper in the cocktail mixer for you to put your offer on and put in a ballot box to the right of canvas (not in picture))
Said canvas.
Said canvas detail..
Frames on walls

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by letiss on Feb 6, 2015 1:07:37 GMT 1, People will be (seem to be) unhappy as there is no money to be made from a quick Dran flip I remember something similar in Sydney when Lister did a pop up show - it was just a window in a brothel, no freebie or cheap print to flip so people were aggrieved, its all about the $$ has been for years... I know where you're coming from, but I think that the message was a bit misleading, as you couldn't even buy a white piece of paper. From my point of view that's really a conceptual step too far and not what was advertised on the POW email.

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Deleted on Feb 6, 2015 1:09:56 GMT 1, So, as far as I can gather (from POW) it is a show that, over the next few weeks, the Artist Dran will gradually draw or paint or whatever he does on all of those blank bits of wall?, and people are invited to leave bids on said bits of wall for the artwork which eventually appears there?.
What is the cheese all about?.
'Over the next three weeks Dran will be creating an art show from scratch in full public view in an empty shop in Soho. Upon completion it will close immediately.
You're invited to attend the private view and purchase a piece of wall on spec. Perhaps pick up a personalised sketch, or gaze admiringly at some empty walls'

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Dr Plip on Feb 6, 2015 1:13:38 GMT 1, Sense of humour needed for this one, I think. I guess it makes sense that the people that went on the opening night were hoping for a freebie or a chance to purchase something. Otherwise, you might as well take your time and go later in the month. No rush.

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Deleted on Feb 6, 2015 1:24:28 GMT 1, It was clear as day in the notice that there would be nothing. People went in the hope of profit and left disappointed. Ermm as far as I can tell, this has nothing to do with "no money to be had." More like "no art to be seen." I thought it said he was gonna be there drawing stuff?

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Deleted on Feb 6, 2015 1:28:06 GMT 1, Maybe you all aren't being creative enough; I wanna see some art!
Go ask Dran if he'll draw a little boy on your stomach using your belly button as a glory hole. That'll at least gauge how happy he is at the moment.

Dran Show โข Public Execution, London 2015, by Dr Plip on Feb 6, 2015 1:30:27 GMT 1, I love the idea of this show. If I was local, they'd need an injunction to keep me out of there for the rest of the month.
