Tabby ๐ฆ๐น Street Art โข New Print Release , by bgt5002 on Apr 28, 2015 20:21:00 GMT 1, Sure, a lot of the hype is speculative, but the work is pretty interesting, and I myself even dig a lot of his stuff. I guess there will always be haters, but that's what makes art so fun.

Tabby ๐ฆ๐น Street Art โข New Print Release , by Mirus Gallery Poesia on Apr 28, 2015 20:35:41 GMT 1, Sure, a lot of the hype is speculative, but the work is pretty interesting, and I myself even dig a lot of his stuff. I guess there will always be haters, but that's what makes art so fun. I wouldnt say Haters, just some with differing opinions. I dont get it, but I never got the whole genre of artists who make art so similar to banksy that its tough to find an authentic identity in their work.
Its a formula now that early artists have adopted and new artists like this artists will follow, people like Banksy as he orginated this aesthetic with black and white stencil on Colorfull background. Or atleast he popularized it to the point where its a sure fire formula to sell work ala Outis.
I am no more mad at this print than the numerous others doing the same.

Which is why i think it's nice when one-- in the flooding of copycats-- actually stands out. Like Tabby.

Tabby ๐ฆ๐น Street Art โข New Print Release , by bgt5002 on Apr 28, 2015 20:50:30 GMT 1, Look- I'm not saying he's the next Banksy. Or Dolk. Or even Nick Walker or whoever. He's got a few images that are interesting. My interest is piqued. I am compelled. And I think a lot of others feel the same. That's hard to do nowadays, so kudos to him so far, and let's hope he keeps climbing.
It'd be nice to have some more flavor in here other than ART WANTED LOOKING FOR GWB BACKDOOR PRINT $500 MAX BLAH BLAH

Its the same old artists being whored around in peoples for sale threads. Peoples opinion are going to vary but it is important to remember that new = refreshing. In my opinion at least. Always nice to see fresh talent and artists growing from there.

Tabby ๐ฆ๐น Street Art โข New Print Release , by danbongo on Apr 28, 2015 21:36:54 GMT 1, The problem is tabbys work is neither new nor refreshing, perhaps to a person who's not seen a lot of prints and Photoshop / design pro (whatever) work previously, but to anyone who's been around this market place for a few years. Also the ideas are hugely underwhelmingly developed, the kid needs time and it's time in which they should be challenged to find their own voice.

Also the ideas are hugely underwhelmingly developed, the kid needs time and it's time in which they should be challenged to find their own voice. LOL. Your kidding right? I bet your the type of person who thinks a dot in the middle of a blank canvas is art right? Who has not seen that type of art a billion times but it sells. I am really tired of seeing splashed paint being used from artists but it sells. Tired of seeing scribble all over images but it sells. Your opinion is exactly that. YOURS. Don't buy it. The fact that you have seen this kind of art plenty of times over the course of years makes no difference. Every delivery is different.
Yes, I believe Tabbys work with stencils etc has been done over and over BUT it comes down to the message and how clever he will get over time. MOST artists dont sell out when they come out with releases so he is off to a great start imo. MOST people who do not have tons of money to spend on art on a consistent basis like/love Tabbys work. For 1. it is affordable. 2. Looks great on the walls. 3. The message is either funny/witty. His future images are going to be very very popular. If you go to his site and see what he has already, I like 90% of his images so far. The guy is off to a great start compared to seeing the same old stuff on here day after day.
What I love about stencil art over anything else is the fact that you can have an impact during a bad/good time in the world as well as being funny with humor when its needed the most.

Also the ideas are hugely underwhelmingly developed, the kid needs time and it's time in which they should be challenged to find their own voice. This is such an insufferable take. Fine with you challenging him to create better art (i encourage it!), but art is subjective, which is why it's great. I think you're missing the point.
While I can't stand MBW, Whatson, Chevrier, Walker and some of these other folks, I also know that there's a difference between a steak dinner and Taco Bell. Both can be satisfying with context and timing.

And regarding your last comment about compared to seeing the same old stuff, you're kidding, right? Tabby's stuff is just that: the same old stuff. Your argument is that it's clever? Since when does clever = good?
oh, and tons of crap sells out. That doesn't mean it's good, it just means some people have more money than sense/taste. And yes, that's MY opinion. But that doesn't mean it's wrong.

And yes, that's MY opinion. But that doesn't mean it's wrong. No matter what your opinion is stencil art seems to be a popular pick among the casual art buyer because it looks good in peoples houses. Especially humor/witty stencil art. From personal experience any type of funny statement art is a popular purchase. So what your saying is that you think an artist like Stik and his art is not old? Kids have drawn stick figures daily for decades. IF thats not OLD then I do not know what is. I dont get it but it sells.
But Tabbys stuff is old? In terms of stencil art yes. In terms of what makes it on peoples wall, then no his work is not. Is Invader's stuff old too? I have seen lego art since I was 5 years old. Over 30 years ago. Is that old? Where on this board are we being bombarded with TONS of stencil artists? Other then banksy and now Tabby and I am sure a few others, I do not see many. Clever has always been entertaining. Not sure how it is not. Entertaining art work starts conversations with people who are NOT big into art more then not.
Which humor art seems to be the best just for that. I would rather be able to talk to people about the art on my wall because it is clear what the message is, then bore someone with explaining the meaning behind it. What everyone seems to be forgetting is that Tabby has tons of growing to do. Banksys early stuff was nothing great. I was told by plenty collectors they remember people laughing at his art as well when he was new. The selling out comment was said because I know artists and they dont sell out. I use to have a gallery and plenty artists did not sell out even at cheap prices. So he is ahead of the game imo with people at least buying his work because they like it.

Tabby ๐ฆ๐น Street Art โข New Print Release , by Acidburn on Apr 29, 2015 3:31:17 GMT 1, Thanks to everyone that picked up a copy earlier today. Means a lot to us and Tabby.
Trying to keep it fun and to the people that picked up one or both of his releases, hopefully you like what we have planned next.
All prints are at the space and we should have them hopefully out by the weekend.

To all the drama, all I have to say (this one is even better):
Thanks to everyone that picked up a copy earlier today. Means a lot to us and Tabby. Trying to keep it fun and to the people that picked up one or both of his releases, hopefully you like what we have planned next. All prints are at the space and we should have them hopefully out by the weekend. Congrats UTBNYC and TABBY on the sellout. To all the drama, all I have to say (this one is even better):

Who would have thought Arthur would create such a stir.

And here I was hoping people were smarter over here than on EB. Low and behold I find out **** gonna **** , regardless of the site.
