Tabby ๐ฆ๐น Street Art โข New Print Release , by Catman 74 on Apr 30, 2015 4:39:40 GMT 1, I don't think anyone is looking for the next Banksy or Dolk...certainly not me..they have their place in the Urban Art history while Tabby is just another artist who creates stuff we choose to like or not like..If I ask people why do they like a piece by a certain high profile artist I will get 100000000 different opinions/points of view/angles..etc..so with Tabby is the same..you either like it or not for different reasons.."simples"...

Tabby ๐ฆ๐น Street Art โข New Print Release , by Deleted on Apr 30, 2015 18:20:38 GMT 1, People who moan that Tabby is an inferior version of Banksy need to get a life.
Tabby has done loads of stencils on walls and lets face it the Blek technique using simple stencils of standard images on walls to make people think or to look out of place in their location.
Means that people who make this type of art will make similar looking stencils.
So far Tabby doesn't have assitants who rig up scaffolding for him.
Or a script writer to write witty punchlines or take from other people.
Or a PR team to tell the world that he is the best thing since sliced ego's and making a valid political social media point.
I see that some Tabs as we connosseurs like to call Tabby's ltd editions have been sold on the bay for triple.
Which means anyone who bought an OG which is short for OG on canvas has bought a bargain.
ยจPrices which go up in this world of urbanomics don't usually go down, if Tabby is clever enough to select the best images to make into Tabs and leave enough time before each release.
Blek is Blek and Banksy is a PR team and Tabby is Tabby.
and I am the Queen.

Ploppi your utter disdain for Banksy is entertaining, simply because it's so utterly myopic. If you want to have a serious discussion about Banksy's incredible amount of work, lets do so, because factually appraising the number of pieces he's created over a decade, very much puts Tabby in it's place...

[br 1. Did not realize that was on a banned list or words. It's a common turn of phrase on other sites, clearly not here. Noted. 2. I cannot believe your only response was to actually get a mod involved. You cried to the guardian like a child. Here's a more appropriate gif for you:

No disdain at all.
Doesn't a PR team have creative input?
Without a PR team how many column inches would banksy NY slogans on walls have generated if the same slogans were painted by any other artist?
What was the point of the large Balloon letters if not advertising Banksy?
Why would a PR team contact journos as soon as some stencil wa smade and tell them the location?
hyperallergic.com/18796/banksy-oscar-drama/
""If we needed any more proof that Banksyโs PR team is involved in the promotion of his art then check out what street art photographer Jake Dobkin said at the Arts Tech social media week panel today as quoted by an attendee:""
"""Banksy's PR team emailed me last night at 10pm to tell me where the piece is" - tales from a graffiti documentarian, ""
Surely if they were that good they wouldn't need a pr team.
One wonders if one believes ones own hype?

Tabby ๐ฆ๐น Street Art โข New Print Release , by NN on May 7, 2015 21:59:15 GMT 1, Two things.
1) If I were a gallery or some street art festival that has an account here, I would not share my bad and personal thoughts and views about any artist in here - this makes your "institution" look unprofessional. Get a personal account and do it with that.
2) I saw one Tabby- stencil in Vienna recently. The granny/queen one at the danube chanel. Was quite okay and looked funny.Yet, I'm not too fond of stencils in general anymore. So yeah some diversity in the streetart/ graffiti scene here in Vienna is cool, but not the kind of art that I'd buy. Funny note, I had never noticed any of his stencils until you guys made some promotion thread and hyped the shit out of yet another banksy-clone. This thread looks awfully like a set up thing were the artmarket/some user create their new rising stars - purchasing art - generating hype about the artist- generating potential rise of value for their art possessions by creating demand, as new people gather to the market looking for a quick buck --> wait I just explained the stock market?

Agree with #1. As for #2, I made a thread about an artist I saw and liked; it happened to become more popular than some others. Not many people are fans of me on here, but I definitely am not trying to create my own rising star via this thread. Just wanted to share some art, like so many other similar threads.

I did not inted to attack you in particular - I don't know you or your past threads. There are just a bunch of topics around here where I have these thoughts upon, this one being one of them. These forums are quite anonym places where professional media manipulation can easily be done. Sometimes sharing something one likes comes across as selling to me, for whatever reason. That's all fine and cool were are all just enthusiasts I guess.

I dont know If I agree with #1 but interesting opinion regardless, Would love to hear others thoughts on this as I do worry that at times talking art could be seen as a negative and its best to just remain silent and contribute nothing but Hype and Self promotion.
I personally feel a responsibility to contribute to the forum as a gallery and not hide behind some other name. I try to remain as positive as possible but opinions are always going to be taken in a bad way regardless. I guess I personally feel comfortable with my opinions and make them knowing that it might have some impact on people not liking me or the gallery, but I think that is better than just coming on this forum and giving nothing back at all except Hype and Self Promo.

Must run away now before someone gets mad and starts another thread about how the urban art world is in decline or someone says haters gunna hate and i get that bloody song stuck in my head again!

Tabby ๐ฆ๐น Street Art โข New Print Release , by coller on May 8, 2015 4:38:06 GMT 1, Agree with #1. As for #2, I made a thread about an artist I saw and liked; it happened to become more popular than some others. Not many people are fans of me on here, but I definitely am not trying to create my own rising star via this thread. Just wanted to share some art, like so many other similar threads. I'm sorry. Didn't mean to imply you were attacking me in particular at all; sorry if I came off that way.
Just didn't seem like this thread was orchestrated in any way, which is another reason why I find the 'hype' arguments a little harder to support for TABBY. From what I could tell, I just posted things and some people liked them; UTB saw them and liked them and decided to do a release which went surprisingly well and led to a second.

Tabby ๐ฆ๐น Street Art โข New Print Release , by Deleted on May 8, 2015 12:46:08 GMT 1, I don't think Tabby is rad in any way.
Stencil graffiti has established itself as one form of graffiti thanks to the publicity generated by Banksy.
It's an easy way to make quirky socio political and amusing images in the streets and is of it's time.
Maybe it has reached it's peak and maybe it hasn't.
It does seem formulaic in as much as it's based on images of celebrities and film and cartoon characters and children.
Mix and match those things with or without a witty comment and it can work well.
It's more about the visual impact than deep philosophy.
Tabby is not trying to be Banksy in the same way that Banksy is not trying to be Blek.
No one is hyping Tabby and since this is an urban art forum it doesn't exclude stencil artists good or bad.
Banksy prints are out of most peoples budget and there are people out there who buy prints which please them visually and don't care or know much about the artist who made them.
Some people might go for a Banksy and others might prefer an image done by Tabby.
Some Banksy fans are suffering withdrawel symptons while others who collect street art think it's better to buy a screenrpint from other street artists to add to their collection, than buy a bad repro of a Banksy print which is only Worth the paper it is printed on and thats Ok as they can convince themselves they have an original Banksy after a few hundred quid framing it.
Or they see prints made by other artists such as Tabby and prefer to buy that as it's authentic and a ltd edition and buy the Tabby etc for that factor plus won't complain if prices rise.
The only people who hype Tabby are the flippers and flippers hype anything they can flip.
The so called big boys like Brainwash, Fairey and others after a time and with too much hype end up being avoided by people who like art for arts sake.
