Not at all. My opinion is that this particular photograph didn't add anything to Banksy's piece. If anything, I think it dumbs it down.
Through most of her career, there was a novelty to treating graffiti (which was considered urban decay by most) as fine art. That's not really the case when you're staging a photo shoot in front of a Banksy.
Anyway, I think if you like a piece simply because you like it, you should buy it. If you only like it because of who did it, I would probably pass.

Yes, aparently some people seem to think that. And to top it off, a Martha Copper photo isn't worth โฌ125. Especially one capturing a Banksy NYC exhibit, that is signed by Martha, and is limited to only 75 copies.

And I think Banksy would be honored anyone at all is knocking off his stuff, regardless of age or legendary status. That is why he seems to allow the reproduction of his works. Right? |

David Anasagasti, a.k.a. Ahol Sniffs Glue, sued American Eagle for using a mural as a backdrop in a fashion shoot. I believe they settled out of court. |

Shady (somewhat ironic), what's your issue with the release? As someone pointed out already, these have been up for a week! You're seriously upset that the gallery decided to sell their last copy for x2 cost? And because of that alone, Martha Cooper should never deal with them again?
To my experience and knowledge, most galleries will keep a few of whatever release they're releasing, and sell them at a marked up price down the road. I don't see this as "shady" business, but rather par for the course. Or simply put...business.

I am just one guy in Florida whose been around the block a time or two. I am not a proponent of the way certain galleries and their minions behave. I am also very aware of a lot of other nefarious behavior on these types of boards, ebay, social media etc. Consider me a bearish troll who enjoys seeing the monetary benefits of this hobby dry up. I don't have a business or flat file filled with prints waiting to be sold.
I am a fan of the misbehavers like BNE, Hanksy, MBW, Pepper Spray, and other upstart artists who are bucking (mocking) the trend and doing things their own way.
It's a new beginning for me, hence the "Welcome Home" banner in my avatar.
As for these prints, I didn't know about them until today. I didn't take interest until the cost doubled. You are right, it is the way certain sellers run their "business." In my opinion, the business is shady, not me.
