There has been quite a small number of auctions recently, so the index is lagging the development of the private trades. It will catch up as auctions happen, but in these kind of times with fast price rises it will be always a bit conservative.

I'm not so sure with Banksy. The rise has been fast but steady over the years, not sudden jumps.
Only recently some less popular prints have started catching up with the more popular ones...
When some signed prints start selling for ยฃ100k, then the ones that usually sell for 20 suddenly look more attractive... and up prices go on them too!

Bob, I donโt doubt that bubbles burst but this has been the mantra of so many people on this forum over the years.
I am now at a stage where I own artworks bought from source for hundreds of pounds that people told me to sell when they reached the multiple hundreds. Iโve been told to sell them When they were valued in the thousands. Iโve been told to sell them when valued in the multiple thousands and itโs now looking like Iโll be told to sell them in the hundred thousands (which I probably will in all fairness).
I am genuine when I ask if you can name an artist with a similar global appeal as Banksy at present. He is regularly in the news internationally and his shop launch drew huge crowds recently. Stick his works in a museum and people flock from all over to see them. He his hot property and people want to buy in. Plenty people have plenty of money and they are only too willing to part with it at present if they can guarantee a return or at least hold value.
I struggle to see when the bubble is going to burst now. Plateau, perhaps, but collapse, I donโt think so.
I look forward to this thread being quoted in ten years time as I try to sell my prints for cost!
