It's a difficult one at the moment, usually insurers would look at the cost to replace the item and put you back in the same financial position before the loss, this would be done by looking at past sales and probably up and coming sales. With the market being the way it is the valuation you indicated at renewal could be way off and if that's the case they may apply an underinsurance clause reducing the amount you receive. My advice is always speak to your broker.

For the actual prints just use the Banksy valuation database as prepared by the forum member on here, Fusion001 or summit like that. I dunno what value, if any, you can insure backdoor prints for, priceless or worthless as its unlikely you could ever replace them which is what your insurance company will b interested in. At least with the legit prints you would have a chance at buying replacements should you need to.

I’ve got a khaki “Choose Your Weapon” edition of 25. I haven’t seen any recent sales of a coloured CYW. Looking at values I would guess I should insure it for £100k. Do you think this valuation is about right, I can’t see any for sale in the current auctions at Sotheby’s and Christie’s.

Thanks for getting back to me, it was a good purchase as I paid less than £20k for it originally. If the value ever goes above £150k, I maybe tempted to sell.

I have the thrower print- offered £68k all way up to £195k - since they Sotheby’s auction been offered £250k . Without a COA

Um, no, next offer won’t be 10k.

I think we’ll see these getting up there with the likes of signed GWB’s eventually, amazing bit of kit.
