Seems weird that one also sold at Phillips today for 100k less, although Iโve been told there are condition issues with a lot of these

I had a few offers that seemed more serious in the ยฃ2.5k range - but in the end I held on to it as Iโd much rather trade it and wasnโt in a rush to sell. I still have the letter Time Out sent out with it, along with the original tube it came in - Iโd guess those bits would help your sale.

- Applause (unsigned from an edition of 500)
If going by recent auction results, I guess Iโm looking for figures minus any fees that may have been applicable to help get some โtruerโ valuation figures.
All four of the prints are in very good condition, are framed to conservation standards, and have Pest Control COA's.

Prices shown include the fees so deduct around 30% to see approx hammer price. Most private sales recently seem to be somewhere between hammer price and price after fees.
If a member posts some incredibly high figures in response to your question then don't take them as gospel as they will be completely fabricated.
Might be worth confirming if you're considering selling or just after valuation for insurance etc as your inbox is likely to be swamped.

There are many ways an individual and or institution can go about selling or buying artwork.
Once you decide to buy and or sell the art you have to take many factors into consideration such as:
Is the work fresh or has it been burned by every runner, dealer, gallery and art advisor try selling it at all different price points.
Is the provenance rock solid or are there questions about the chain of ownership.
What is the condition of the art and where is it located ? Location is very important because there is a VAT and or Tax on art being imported and exported to specific countries that can be as high as 20% and also the cost of shipping, crating and insuring art.
Is the art being sold at auction and if so what is the buyer's premium and or seller's premium ?
Buying & Selling art can get very complicated and just because something sold for a known price doesn't mean it really sold for that price for example.
Forum Member A who lives in the UK buys a Banksy print from Forum Member B who lives in the USA for $100,000 USD the price is really not $100K it can be as high as $125 - $130K based on how you ship it, declaration of cost and VAT / Tax.
Forum Member A who lives in the UK and or the USA buys art from a Gallery and or Auction House
for $100,000 USD you now need to add in a buyers premium which could be as high as 25%, plus the VAT plus Tax, plus shipping and insurance and the artwork could cost 30 - 40% higher than the hammer price.

A large HW edition of 10 sold at Bonhams for ยฃ485k two months ago. I can't think of any canvases available on the open market. Anyone Know of any canvases available I would also be interested.

I expect they will pull away if they haven't already. They rarely come up for sale these days, but there seems to be a large print auction every two weeks but not many canvases. |
