Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by dawn2006 on Feb 9, 2021 17:56:47 GMT 1, Hi there I've not been on the forum for a long time and used to get great advice . We have a barcode and Jack and Jill both unsigned and conservation floated by opus arts ,back in the day. They both have full pest Control authentication. I've looked at prices and they seem to have gone crazy. Considering selling but not sure where is the best place to sell and how much reserve if we go down the auction route . Any ideas guys ? I feel at a bit of a loss now in the art world Thanks

I'm definitely not a flipper. I bought these prints in 2006 . To be honest the insurance costs worry me and we were burgled 2 years ago fortunately the prints were not taken, but it worries me now to have them on the walls when we aren't here. I an undecided about selling though as I do love them still ,but may invest in new artists. I still need advice as to where to sell ,if I do ? Thanks though x

Chances are youd get a bit more selling at Sothebys or Christies or Forum or other auction houses but would be a bit more hassle all round. Either way, youd get an amount of dosh that was never envisaged if you had bought them in 2016 let alone 2006.
Ud do well to ignore any of Artdelights comments particlarly his reference to the worlds longest duration flip.

The site above is a good starting point for showing how much your prints have sold for recently in auctions. It's worth noting that private sales tend to be somewhere in between hammer prices and the price after fees. If you sell at an auction you would likely receive a few % less than the hammer price depending on your prior agreement with the auction house.
You can reach out to galleries and brokers who may offer to buy directly or consign your pieces. They will obviously need to make a profit on top so they may not be as competitive as a private sale.
A private sale may be the most lucrative option but it does involve having to deal with people making ridiculous offers and people with no intention (or means) of buying the pieces. That being said I and many members on the forum have bought and sold high value pieces with no issues. There's plenty of people on here with more buying and selling experience than me but feel free to drop me a PM if you have any questions.

That's cheered me up thanks so much for this very useful reply. I was a bit shocked at being called a flipper as I've loved and cherished these prints . I would like to invest in some new and upcoming artists ,just as I did in 2006 (although I was then a bit late to that party ๐ฅณ). Thanks again for the great advice x

I did buy a few things from forum members years ago buy obviously it seems like the price of everything has increased so much the process is much more difficult to navigate . Wow can't believe how much things have changed .in 2006 some of the proces on here would buy a house ๐ ๐xx

Hi there,
I've just read your recent posts, and wanted to wish you good luck if you do decide to sell.
With an account dated 2007 it was clear that you probably weren't a flipper, and most likely the furthest thing from a flipper!
In truth, Banksy artwork has sky-rocketed to such eye watering amounts that a lot of lucky owners are considering whether they should cash in.
You've been given all the advice you need with regards to auction houses, fees, prices, and private sales - and as already mentioned, definitely check out www.banksy-value.com/.
With regards to insurance, I've just been advised by my insurance company (Covea Insurance) that I need to get some valuation certificates for my Banksy prints, and that I need to have an alarm system fitted that is connected to a central monitoring station.
It's a bit of a faff, but I would like to keep hold of my prints if possible, so I'm just in the process of getting all of this done.
As before, if you do decide to sell - best of luck. The auction house fees are negotiable, so have an ask around on here to see what would be the best deal you can get for yourself from some of the established auction houses. There's a lot of good info and advice within this forum.
One thing to consider - your profile pic says a signed Banksy is out of your league... well not any more!
An unsigned Barcode commands a higher price than quite a few of the signed Banksy prints - so maybe you could freshen up your walls by selling the unsigned Barcode, buying a signed Bansky print, and fingers crossed you would still have enough money left over to treat yourself to a nice holiday as well!
Just something for you to think about... :-)

Thanks so much for this great advice and im so happy for such a supportive forum. I've had some very kind members reach out to me re the flipper comment and its greatly appreciated. Yes thats also food for thought. I never dreamed that a signed Banksy print was ever achievable for me. Things have definitely changes since we first bought our Banksy prints. Its a whole new world out there. I can see me becoming addicted to this forum again haha ๐ That's interesting advice from the insurers. Does the Central monitoring habe to be from a company or from you?
Thanks again for the great reply

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by dawn2006 on Feb 10, 2021 14:17:17 GMT 1, I'd keep the Barcode, and sell Jack and Jill - Barcode is iconic and much nicer imho. If you do sell either, you'll need to take into account paying Capital Gains Tax - or seek advice on how to mitigate it depending how your tax affairs are managed. The rate is currently 20%, I believe, but rumoured to be increasing in the next budget Insurance - we have been burgled previously; they just look for cameras jewellery and laptops and stuff. Easy to carry, easy to sell. Keep the Pest Control certs in a separate place, just in case. Insurers asking for alarms and stuff worries me - weve not had that kind of thing yet; our flat is a renter so we couldn't make changes like that. Amd welcome back, I'm also being sucked back into this world, having signed up in 2007 too!
Aww thanks and welcome back to you as well. I have the feeling I will end up buying more art (not Banksy as too much now) but looking through posts there's some great art going on and I've missed it ! Ooh that capital gains tax was definitely something I hadn't thought off. Who would have thought we would be thinking of that after buying a few prints way back haha ๐ A nice problem though. It's definitely the security issue that worries me . BANKSY is just so well known now. Weve had trades people notice them and ask if they were real . Who would have thought people doing jobs in the house notice art. I definitely wouldn't probably unless they were Banksy work .
Nice to reconnect x

Weston Super-Mare unsigned 43000 ยฃ. I wouldn't sell that masterpiece, because finally the price will be equal to other entry level prints. Hold it, Banksy love holders, not flippers.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by Deleted on Feb 13, 2021 14:42:36 GMT 1, So Iโm fairly new here but it seems like artdelight isnโt particularly knowledgeable about Banksy prices?
Should they be allowed to continue to post ridiculous prices when people are trying to get useful information for things like their house insurance etc? If a new member comes looking for advice and ends up insuring their Banksy print for ยฃ80,000 when it might be worth ยฃ50,000 theyโre going to pay a premium they might not have to.
Seems a bit off coming to a forum presumably designed for art lovers to share info and advice etc only to be given incorrect information?

Artdelight loves talking up prices - it is pretty well known that he is a dealer here with multiple aliases so has a clear agenda.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by Deleted on Feb 13, 2021 17:27:22 GMT 1, This included fees. Another hammered at โฌ19.5 at Hessinks last month
www.hessink.com/sales/netherlands/modern-urban-art/view-lot/1/
banksyvalue needs to include this in the auction results no? fusion0001
Worst Banksy print in my opinion so I am not surprised.
