From what I have seen on here thay are £150-160k so maybe £175k for insurance.

However whether one had ever been sold or thats just pure speculation I don't know.

I have spent a good amount of time during last few weeks gathering originals pricing data and put together a beta version of originals value tracker banksy-value.com/index_OG.php. A few caveats / things to look at.

• Current focus is on somewhat comparable originals and editions on canvas
• Automatically calculated values seem to be quite off for quite a few of them given low volumes at auction. I am still trying to work out the best algorithm, but if it does not work might need to throw in some manual adjustments or have only the data
• There is a "GWB index" for each sale which measures relative value of the piece to a price of a GWB unsigned on that date (from my prints value tracker), so you can get a feel for the value (e.g. for Able Lincoln sale in Nov 2018 the absolute price of 158k is less helpful for a valuation today compared to a GWB index of 2.8, meaning it was valued at 2.8x the value of a GWB unsigned)
• GWB index is also monitored over long-term showing how originals perform vs GWB as an indicator of more stable prints
• When you click individual artworks you can also see images of the actual pieces

I am guessing this will be a bit less helpful than Banksy Print Value for buying/selling given smaller volumes and much less precise valuations, but I thought it would be still cool to publish for people to browse around and explore.

Has anyone else had the following 'problem' with Pest Control?
Recently I was going through my vinyl record collection to find items I no longer want. In the late 90s / early 00s I used to receive a lot of promos, and many of those I am deciding to sell are promos from that era. I found that I have a copy of the Capoeira Twins '4x3' from that time, which I thought nothing about (other than that it's not a very good record!) until I looked on Discogs to see what price to list it at - and I had a shock! The sleeve is a Banksy print, originally done in an issue of 100 copies.

As there are apparently fakes of this about, i got in touch with Pest Control to find out how to get it authenticated, but got this in reply:
"We cannot authenticate or validate the work you have submitted, therefore would not be eligible for a Certificate of Authentication."

I asked for an explanation and got this:
"A record sleeve wasn’t intended as a ‘work of art’, there are also lots of fakes in circulation so we are not able to validate them."

I have sent a response:
"I am very disappointed with your reply, as I know I have a genuine print and am reluctant to try to sell it without authentication. A couple of galleries that sell Banksy prints have suggested I try you again, so here goes ...

Why is a Banksy 100-edition print on a record sleeve not "... intended as a 'work of art' ..." yet a limited-edition print on a piece of paper, which was not 'intended' to be made into a saleable work of art, considered valid? In what way are record sleeves inferior? Would a Banksy original on a record sleeve also be invalid? If not, why is a print invalid?

Why is an artist's 'intention' at the time of making a print relevant to the subsequent authenticity of his work?

And as for "... there are also lots of fakes in circulation so we are not able to validate them." - isn't that the whole purpose of your existence?"

Has anyone any comments or suggestions as to how I should proceed please? Originals of this seem to have been selling for £4,600 up to £6,500, and I could really do with the money (which is why I was selling some records in the first place)!

Sounds like your provenance will be as good as anyone elses who has sold them for a sizeable sum, nobody will have had a PC COA for them from what you describe.

Have a go at selling them, you dont have anything to lose being that you were given them as promo’s, presumably for nowt.

New to this forum, hoping someone can help me with a rough value for GDP cushions.

I can't lie, I'm not crazily into art and I randomly applied to buy the cushions after going to the GDP shop in Croydon thinking I'd never get chosen but somehow I did. Still quite shocked that I have a Banksy - I'm just an ordinary poor student

I won't get the COA until November. Can anyone give me a rough figure for what they'll be worth once I have the COA?

Jesus Christ I am blown away by that estimate... I would've been happy with £1000 for them hahah - I remember at the time when I won them that the £150 was a bit steep for me

I know an estimate is only an estimate but that would be a life-changing amount of money

Part of me wants to keep them and never let an art dealer get their hands on them but I also am just an ordinary working class girl - I like to think Banksy would like if I got a decent amount of money from them hahah
