Is that from the edition of 20 or an original one off? This is the OG the run of 20 are a lot smaller and different colour way. That is a cracker. A very big cracker actually coming in at 83cm x 142cm. What a perfect companion to a large HM print. Hard one to price but the edition of 20 were $2800 at source so this large 1/1 would be worth $8-$10k imo. It is a great image not one that is really well known but special none the less. Would of loved to of seen the statue they did in Mongolia back in 2012. |

They are signed and numbered, but there is no stamp, have checked on the Faile forum and it appears that these prints do not necessarily have a stamp? I'm not the original owner I bought them through a Danish website.

I am not sure but I seem to remember that the first 100/150 were signed. The signed ones I think about 200/250 . If these were the ones on eBay at around 50 pounds I thought initially they were fake. To be honest and not to worry you as my opinion means nothing, but I do think the positioning of the numbering looks a little off.

If I remember correctly the unsigned ones were an edition of 600 and the signed ones an edition of 150.
The price for the unsigned was 25 and signed 50-75 from pow originally. Worth a little bit more now, but definately very far from the price increase for some other screen prints from pow from that era.

I did hope that somebody had the same prints, so we could confirm whether they were legit or not, i got some pm, and they mostly they say they are legit.

I love a good debate  I personally also love the black sub rosa but it is not a popular Faile image for some reason which is why it's sitting on eBay (along with the red). If I had the money I'd buy that subrosa and have in the past been offered it at cost with free shipping thrown into the mix. I've no doubt in 10 years time people may be scrambling for these earlier handfinished Failes... real works of art

So short of a big money market manipulator poping some big auction results invader style in not sure what you are looking for. On a 30 year time horizon we are having a different discussion.

So short of a big money market manipulator poping some big auction results invader style in not sure what you are looking for. On a 30 year time horizon we are having a different discussion.

As with anything it's all about volume and hence liquidity. Larger editions that have classic images sell better as they have a more visible benchmark price from past sales. Originals are always more difficult to price as being that they sell far less often finding a price that people are confident to pay is difficult. Their 150 series for example sells very well on the secondary market because people are confident that they can benchmark a price. The block prints also are rarer but do have volume of circa 100 and so can be traced. As with anything it is what someone is willing to pay and I think selling originals is tough. For me if I bought an original I would never have it in my mind to sell it would be part of my collection j love and would fully expect to sell for less unless it was of course from some established body like Banksy etc. I am basing my pricing on these not because I am collector (though I am) but on pricing I have seen these go for. This isnof course a ballpark and hence my suggestion that rather than placing a set price on eBay people should have a polish reserve auction and hence let the market decide, my price is just a guidance based on historic examples. At end of the day yes I love faile and so will be on the positive side of pricing nor because I want to inflate my own as I am not selling but just because I believe they are a under priced talent.

I personally also love the black sub rosa but it is not a popular Faile image for some reason which is why it's sitting on eBay (along with the red). If I had the money I'd buy that subrosa and have in the past been offered it at cost with free shipping thrown into the mix. I've no doubt in 10 years time people may be scrambling for these earlier handfinished Failes... real works of art
