paypal question, by Deleted on Apr 10, 2015 14:39:18 GMT 1, Hi, I'm pretty sure I know the answer but I just wanted to double check before I do something.
I've just sold a canvas via paypal, not paypal gift. The buyer and myself have been emailing each other and they seem genuine however the address they want the art to be shipped to if different from the address of the person paying for the art. The buyer did tell the I.D of who will pay through paypal but am I right in thinking I won't be protected if I send the art to where they want it sent rather than the address on the paypal account? And is it possible for the paypal payer to request where to post the art (like a gift address) Many thanks

Id be interested to hear others views on this though as I've never really paid attention to the delivery address v paypal registered address - maybe i should :/

paypal question, by Happy Shopper on Apr 10, 2015 14:46:49 GMT 1, Perhaps just confirm with the Paypal payer that the delivery address you've been given is correct. If they say yes, you're covered... I think!

That's what I was thinking if doing just so the change is agreed and documented. Selling art definitely more hassle than buying!!

I just sent a quite pricey, framed piece to the US from UK, and the buyer started saying that he'd be making a Paypal claim if it didn't arrive in time (it was being held at customs). Luckily he got it, and everything was fine... but, blimey!

paypal question, by avec art on Apr 10, 2015 16:30:02 GMT 1, Be careful! If you send the artwork to an address that they wish for, but is not the address they have registered with paypal, you will NOT be covered. If they claim it didn't arrive, and you have proof of sending you will still not be covered.
Just explain to the buyer that if they want the artwork sent to an address that is different to the one they have registered with paypal, then they need to change their address with paypal. This is not difficult for them to do.

paypal question, by Cornish Crayon on Apr 10, 2015 16:47:32 GMT 1, Have they paid, and it's clear in your account ? Take it out .
Are the messages thru ebay/paypal ?
Send it signed for, everytime.
I recently sold a piece to Germany, but they wanted me to send it london so they could pick it up, I don't see any immediate issues
No worries

paypal question, by avec art on Apr 10, 2015 16:57:44 GMT 1, I've mentioned about Paypal policy because of personal experience and what paypal have said to me on these points. It doesn't mean you can't choose to be flexible, but if for whatever reason something does go t**s up then you won't necessarily be covered. As cornish says, whatever you do, make sure it is tracked and signed for. Btw am I allowed to say t**s on here?

They've paid but it's still pending in my account so nothings being sent yet. Flight logistics are scheduled to pick up on Monday and will be sent tracked. All communications have been via email so far, but once payment has been approved I'll contacted the payer and get them to confirm where to sent it. Thanks for everyone's help

paypal question, by Cornish Crayon on Apr 10, 2015 19:17:08 GMT 1, Do not even think about sending till that money is in your hands, if it's pending come Monday don't send.....
Ask for confirmation of sending address via eBay email and quote a lot of the conversation in that email, stating the price, sending dates arrival dates
No worries

That won't happen the payments tied to the address it was set as already. Refund and explain.

paypal question, by hippychick on Apr 11, 2015 10:15:24 GMT 1, I don't think they can change the address after payment has been made. To be covered by seller protection "You must ship the item to the shipping address on the Transaction Details Page". PayPal User Agreement
As Jimmy said, if they want it shipping to a different address then they need to cancel the payment and then pay again with the correct address on the payment. It's really easy to add an address to PayPal so they shouldn't have a problem with that. If they do, I'd have second thoughts about selling to them!

paypal question, by WILLYBKLN on Apr 11, 2015 14:50:27 GMT 1, Definitely protect yourself and ship to a confirmed address on PayPal, rather than risk a headache after. PayPal is very buyer centered when it comes to disputes, so protect yourself :-)

paypal question, by Deleted on Apr 11, 2015 16:11:44 GMT 1, Definitely only send to the confirmed address on the payment confirmation from PayPal - regardless of funds clearing or anything else - or you open yourself up to all kinds of claims. If the buyer wants to change the address, refund the payment and have them repay using the desired delivery address entered through eBay and PayPal.
Hope you get it sorted.
