JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by Fะฏ on Aug 8, 2015 16:57:48 GMT 1, I know quite a lot about mr banksy's work, do own a few as investments, sorry mate I made a comment you don't agree with, everyones taste is different mate try not to have a melt down over it lol Those with limited posts that come on here to flog Banksy are generally considered trolls and not interesting new members with something to contribute. Again...bad graphic designer. Just going to dip my toe in here...
There is just as much skill in cutting a stencil as there is learning software to a level where you are a master. It is the same priciple. We live in a digital age, not 1950.
Whilst i do not like all the work, some bits techically are amazing photoshop which takes years to learn. Its not just a case of comping a few images together with overlays.
95% of the people who frequent this forum are into urban and street art, so im not surprised there is not much love here for this work. Most of those people see photoshop as a dirty word but you would be surprised at those prints you own that have been through photoshop. I can name at least 3 on here recently that are sought after which have been through that process, but no one notices as they look street.
The guy seems to have a following but i think theres alot of hype from galleries. I dont like the language that gets used on their emails, it is a little desperate and bambi-esque.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by Dr Plip on Aug 8, 2015 17:15:36 GMT 1, I agree with FR. It does involve learning certain artistic/technical skills. Then you have to apply those skills correctly and successfully (or not?). Whether you like or collect it is up to you, but I do find the constant backslapping and hyping from the galleries a little tiresome It's Bambi-esque and I don't think it does the artist any favours in the long run.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by Matt on Aug 8, 2015 18:28:07 GMT 1, Just going to dip my toe in here... There is just as much skill in cutting a stencil as there is learning software to a level where you are a master. It is the same priciple. We live in a digital age, not 1950.
Could not agree more. This sterile accusation also applies to people making "not real music" and "not real movies" on computers...anyone who has spent a few minutes on a photo/video/music editing software will immediately see how difficult it is to master the tool and create with it.
However I see no artistic process or vision in this guy's work (which is also true of quite a few other folks much loved on here), I just see someone putting tattoos on images that were already artistic and/or iconic.
I would see his stuff more at it's place as a cheap poster sold on Portobello road or Brick Lane, but hey what do I know

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on Aug 8, 2015 19:33:39 GMT 1, I think that JJs work is a bit of a mixed bag. Some is fantastic and some is really not. I'm really not liking these releases very much as they just look cheap. I have for a few reasons thinned my JJ collection down a fair bit (mainly because I am in the middle of buying a property and releasing the value is somewhat useful at this time in my life). However, I am left with a few key pieces that I love like his screen printed stamps and the wizard of Oz which is just so wall friendly and incredibly detailed and fun. Otherwise I have a delorean which I do really like but probably would let go.
The hate is strong on here, and the people who are apparently pro JJ often don't put their literacy skills to much use in defense in any thread where there is an attack and resort to insults does not really help.
There really does need to be a bit of 'live and let live' on here and every time there is a JJ thread the same clowns come and say the same things and don't leAve those who are interested or have something new to add to discuss.
I'm hoping the 'wanted' thread is still being ignored.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by Ddog on Aug 8, 2015 20:13:27 GMT 1, I just don't understand how certain members on here only ever post about JJ Adams and are able to get away with it! It's all part of the hype train and I'm sure it's a JJ Adams/wishbone publishing PR person getting people to talk about his stuff on this forum.
His stuff has been marketed as "investments" and "the next banksy". I just find it laughable his images are awful, his artist skill and vision is even worse, and worst of all are his little minions in here trying to pipe up about him and his work.
He makes MBW look like a credible, phenomenal artist. In my opinion, the worst of the worst.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on Aug 8, 2015 20:32:08 GMT 1, What if there is no conspiracy and the people posting really are, like myself fans of his work. Granted the images that this thread is about are really nowhere near as good as some of his others.and personally I don't buy these
Think of him as a gateway artist, since buying my first piece by jj I have gone on to really diversify my collection and being here has opened my eyes to a world of new and exciting pieces that I now either own or aspire to by many different artists.
I appreciate that you don't like his work for whatever reasons but you really don't need to keep pushing the point in every jj thread. The only way it will go away for you is if you ignore it, if the art has no validity then the fans will either dissappear or dwindle in not much time.
Maybe this is like repressed homosexuality, you over hate what it is that you really want to be?
(Take that lightly as it is meant as a joke)

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by Dr Plip on Aug 8, 2015 21:31:25 GMT 1, I remember when CGI was in its infancy. Model makers and special effects artists were complaining that CGI looked s**t and was nowhere near as good as a decent model. The first couple of seasons of Babylon 5 looked pretty ropey, but Jurassic World looks awesome.
My point is, it's surprising the things you remember when you're drunk.
Anyway, my other point is, I don't really care how the art is made. It can be paint, charcoal, clay, neon, ink, iron, glass, bodily fluids, elephant dung or pixels. If the image is good, it's good. If it's rubbish, it's rubbish. An artist can make a good image among many bad. Or a bad image among many good. Judge each piece on its own merit. Unless the artist is a wanker. Then you have to bring your conscience into things. But sometimes the pull of potential investment can overpower morality and the forces of light. Am I back to Babylon 5 again?
Anyway, people have been arguing for years about what constitutes "real" art, but (in my opinion), it's better to ask whether it's "good" art. Basically, if you like it, you like it. But you should like it. Don't buy it because you're told to or because it's a good investment. And don't buy art because you think it'll impress the opposite (or same) sex. It never does. They just get bored and want to leave after 2 hours.
Don't force your art onto others. There's enough suffering in this world. If you love it, then love it. It shouldn't need financial or intellectual back-up support. It should stimulate a part of your brain. Not your wallet. Rarely your p***s or va***a, but it can happen.
Just like art because you like it. Or dislike it because you dislike it. Everything else is kinda bulls**t.
Isn't it great that we can talk about this stuff?
I'm drunk. I'm gonna delete this post in about 20 minutes.
Thanks for listening.
EdiT: And I f**king LOVE models, man. I've made Starfurys. And I KNOW I'm making models, based on CGI images, but I still prefer the models, but I know that the CGI led to something that I enjoyed. Models. Maybe photoshop can be a good thing. Like an ambulance. But an ambulance is useless without a decent paramedic to drive it.
Edit: Starfuries?
EditL And don't nobody judge me! I got paid to hang out with models.

You like JJ and that's fine (I suppose) and if you put something on a forum like this you expect responses which go against your beliefs. But credit given where credit is due, you both seem up for a laugh and I'm happy to continue the cat and mouse on any new posts you put up! I need more laughs in my life boys!

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by Ottomatik on Aug 9, 2015 3:23:59 GMT 1, I own nothing from JJ Adams. I don't know much about JJ Adams. I am not a member of the JJ Adams HYPE train. I wouldn't mind hanging this JJ Adams on my wall:

I am disappointed in many members on this thread.

Dude, my taste in art that I purchase is expansive. I'm not in this for the payout. I buy what I like.
On point... I don't judge. You don't see me commenting in the negative on here about the peeps who pick up Stik, Maya H, Hirst, etc...... I couldn't care less about others interest. Why should you care about mine?
Honestly. Live and let live.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on Aug 9, 2015 8:11:13 GMT 1, To be fair, pogop and dodsi you both take it well and give it back, which I admire. You like JJ and that's fine (I suppose) and if you put something on a forum like this you expect responses which go against your beliefs. But credit given where credit is due, you both seem up for a laugh and I'm happy to continue the cat and mouse on any new posts you put up! I need more laughs in my life boys!
You need to get out more!
Perhaps we can go to the jj launch next week together?
