Again...bad graphic designer. Just going to dip my toe in here... There is just as much skill in cutting a stencil as there is learning software to a level where you are a master. It is the same priciple. We live in a digital age, not 1950. Whilst i do not like all the work, some bits techically are amazing photoshop which takes years to learn. Its not just a case of comping a few images together with overlays. 95% of the people who frequent this forum are into urban and street art, so im not surprised there is not much love here for this work. Most of those people see photoshop as a dirty word but you would be surprised at those prints you own that have been through photoshop. I can name at least 3 on here recently that are sought after which have been through that process, but no one notices as they look street. The guy seems to have a following but i think theres alot of hype from galleries. I dont like the language that gets used on their emails, it is a little desperate and bambi-esque.
Regardless, my issue is the work is trite (imho). In fact, trite describes it perfectly.
Good photoshop skills though are to be respected.

Its good graphic design at best. Especially since the original images worked on aren't even taken or created by himself. I just think this term called artist is overused, suddenly everybody is an artist.
P.s: I'm pretty good at photoshop too

Wanted to see what all the fuss was about.
Have to say was not impressed at all with the Steve McQueen and Ali prints.
There were a couple of other new ones, one of which was a take on Warhol's soup can called Tartan Soup. This one sold out instantly but it looked like Ali and Steve weren't selling at all so they should be relatively easy to pick up.
Very nice guy but his work,for the most part,is not my cup of tea.

Find it mind boggling anyone would still use the soup can but JJ using the strengths and appeal of others iconic work to push his own seems par for the course here. |

It's a shame but this year there was a lot of work released and the quality really went downhill. I have a couple of pieces which I really like by him and absolutely accepted that they would be worth next to nothing at some point in the near future.

His greedy Publisher is the only winner here and hes done a sterling job at building the hype to crazy levels! Prices falling will hopefully lead to some of the decent pieces becoming affordable again.
