"New" Old Banksy?, by rebelate on May 6, 2015 7:18:11 GMT 1, So I was invited to an old family friend's restaurant in the West Los Angeles area last night when street art became one of the topics of discussion over dinner.
My friend proceeded to tell me that in 2011, Banksy his a wall on his property and one next door... Obviously my interest was peaked.
The story goes as follows: Please next door had a "swing or "girl on swing" theme stencil painted on the wall which was later accidentally painted over with the building's landlord.
His survived because it was hidden in a corner off a beaten path.
After dinner my friend showed me the piece in question and wanted to know if I could help verify that it was done by Banksy, I chuckled since the only real way of finding out is if it were previously published as a Banksy or if there were any reference images on his site, street art sites, or "wall and piece"....
Anyway here I am after a few simple google searches turned up empty, maybe someone's seen the image below from Banksy or a different artist (which would solve the mystery also of course). It definitely has a bit of that Banksy flavor and similar in subject matter to "Morons" of course - which could be a positive or negative... there is a similarity however Banksy usually doesn't do similar works.
My friend has asked me to not give out the location and would like to know if he should take precautions to protect it so any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

"New" Old Banksy?, by Happy Shopper on May 6, 2015 7:53:52 GMT 1, Not really Banksy's style. Doesn't look good to me... Especially not if it was 2011.

"New" Old Banksy?, by Hubble Bubble on May 6, 2015 7:54:26 GMT 1, Doesn't look right to me. It seems poorly realised, especially both hands. The right hand looks like a claw, the left like it's wearing a thick rubber glove. The left arm (to me) also seems strangely disassociated with the body. Also the shading in the body and suit seems fairly rudimentary. I'd say 'no' but there are many others on here more expert than me. Interesting post though and thanks for sharing.

"New" Old Banksy?, by Cornish Crayon on May 6, 2015 9:53:38 GMT 1, It's a no from me
Banksy always executes, this isn't finished, and Id be surprised if he wrote Sotheby's as again not his style.

"New" Old Banksy?, by naughtyshorty on May 6, 2015 14:54:24 GMT 1, Nope, not a banksy. Placement and concept and execution all a bit off. Also never ever seen banksy use that typeface. Cool story tho
