Shepard Fairey Print up @ MOCA STORE OBEY, by Deleted on May 20, 2015 1:18:19 GMT 1, mocastore.org/products/shepard-fairey-print-freedom-posterShepard Fairey was asked by our Director Philippe Vergne to design an identity for the MOCA Soethby's Spring Auction and to also create an original artwork for the auction itself. This print is based on the painting Shepard Fairey created for the auction. Staying with the populist attitude of the artist, he created this print for everyone to enjoy and to benefit MOCA. Dimensions: 18" x 24" screen print on cream speckle tone paper. Signed and numbered by the artist/ Edition 400, 2015 Price: $60.00 Member price: $54.00 Limit one per customer Additional information please contact: storeonline@moca.org ARTISTS FOR FREEDOM
Philippe Vergne from MOCA asked me if I would be willing to work on not only the graphic design identity system for the MOCA/Sothebyโs Spring auction, but to also create a fine art piece for the auction that relates to the design for the auction itself. I was excited to explore this concept because we live in a culture of compartmentalization but I believe that things are far more fluid between the fine art and design worlds than many gatekeepers are willing to acknowledge. Of course all of this was in service of an institution I believe does a lot for artists and should be supported by artists. This led to the concept of symbiotic support and creative freedom for the institution and the artists themselves facilitated by this symbiosis. My screen print is based on the painting I created for the auction, once again playing into the concept by yielding a more graphic version of a fine art piece but with a clear relationship to it and a lower price tag. Iโm a populist so all of this works for me, hope it does for you. โ Shepard

Shepard Fairey Print up @ MOCA STORE OBEY, by fattyramone on May 20, 2015 1:57:52 GMT 1, It's no cheaper than ordering from Obey , marginally more expensive in fact.
Postage to the UK was $55 on a $60 print.
Plus then you'll get hit with the ยฃ8 parcel force handling charge and the incorrect 20% VAT, which although easy enough to claim back but it takes 2-3 months before you get the cheque in your hand.

Cheaper for US in the USA is what I meant! Sorry I should of clarified! Came to $69 bucks delivered as opposed to $79 and change when bought directly from Obey!

I got stung by Parcel Force for ยฃ19 last week, having ordered a $50 print from Obey. Parcel Force refused to budge - any tips? And wasn't it MOCA who buffed Blu's mural a couple of years ago because it was too edgy? Obey normal send their prints via UPS (not USPS/ Parcel Force)
As a rule of thumb they are in the region of $50 for UPS postage.
Obey have an agreement with UPS that they only charge ยฃ3.30 brokerage fee when it lands in the UK, and the 5% VAT customs charge itself should be in the ball park of ยฃ4-ยฃ5 ...ยฃ8 all in (give or take)
However Border Control seem to ignore any kind of correct tariff applied to it and blanket charge an incorrect 20% VAT.
However if you ring the phone number on the pink slip when the driver is present you can ask for a "H" number and the operator will speak to the driver there and then and apply the correct tariff charge......OR you can email brokerage at UPS beforehand and they will apply the correct tariff before it's delivered....it really is easy to do
If however , you have asked for it to be delivered via USPS/Parcel force , then you will have to pay a non refundable ยฃ8 brokerage charge and then claim back the 20% VAT overcharge by submitting the correct form along with all the relevant receipts and PayPal proof etc.
You WILL get refunded but in about 2 months time
