"As reported in Reuters, the evening was highlighted by the sale of an 18-and-a-half foot Jeff Koons piece titled Coloring Book, which Simon de Pury hammered at โฌ12 millionโa relatively fair price. Other highlights included Eva Longoria purchasing a Warhol painting of Elizabeth Taylor (amFARโs founding International Chairperson) for $600,000, Frances McDormand auctioning off a Calder for $600,000, and Leo DiCaprioโs donated Banksy shooting past the โฌ1 million mark. DiCaprio's looks like cardboard to me it seems like theres a folding crease across the waist and bottom of gun

Its not the commercial element that I refer to though I would argue that it might be a necessary part of sustainability. Its about interacting with people on a daily basis by having them exposed to graffiti/street art. Opening peoples closed eyes to its very existence. In a consumer based society you have to grab peoples attention by whatever means.
How many people walk past street art everyday without even noticing it?
I know this does not sit well with the anti establishment ethos of graffiti / street art but for me its equally about connecting with a wider audience on a daily basis with respect to not just the message but art in general. Acceptance and credibility allows it to enrich peoples lives from a simple smile created by a casual flirtation with a beautiful image (OS Gemeos) to driving home a thought provoking message (Blu).
