But when I picked one of these up in my hand, which are displayed not far from cabinets with genuine balloon dogs, it feels more than a bit meh. But it's not for me to judge if it can make someone happy or not. About licences I know nothing, but these have very little to do with the artist or the exhibition. More like the shop just markets some themed produce at the appropriate time.

This being said, it's just something to be enjoyed, not passed on to your children as inheritance.

They have other deliberately kitsch little items in the shop also, simply cos of the exhibition and all with differing degrees of tenuousness as to how closely they relate in any way to the artist. Those silver dogs are about as close as they get. Not sure if you can see it all online, can't be boved to look.

It even says on the product description

These balloon dogs are nothing new and certainly not official. I sell them in my shops myself! Museum shops buy from all major gift suppliers
