Congratulations Corbyn and Watson, by tartarus on Sept 12, 2015 14:04:08 GMT 1, Agree totally. best thing to happen in politics in my lifetime!!
And that was a huge win for first round. Which shows the massive potential he has to actually be elected. Think he will wake a huge part of the disenfranchised electorate and win back lost labour support. Not to mention the total change to the face of politics that now has a wholly different outlook.
Fantastic day!

Congratulations Corbyn and Watson, by Deleted on Sept 12, 2015 15:10:30 GMT 1, Suprising there are so many Corbyn fans on here considering how elitist collectiong urban/contemporary art has got. I'm not overly interested by politics but if someone gave me ยฃ50 to bet on the next government in 2020, I'd be pretty confident that today's vote has all but wrapped up another Tory majortiy.

If you had any idea what you were talking about you'd know this scene grew out of working class struggle across the world in very different ways but struggle none the less unfortunately urban art is the s**tty consumerist weak stupid great uncle of that struggle I'm fully aware of the history, yet this is 2015 and it's the Banksy forum we are posting on. An artist that currently sells his work in a private room which his fans are not even allowed to go into unless they are on a special rich list. I'm not aware of any of said artist's prints currently available for under ยฃ3k, which is around 6/7 weeks post tax wages for the average Brit. Hence, my surprise that there are still any left wingers left here. I'm pretty sure that unless a crash of Greek proportions hits the UK that the right of centre ground will continue to be the dominant force in politics. That's why the current government will be delighted that a Blairite lite candidate like Burnham didn't win.

I'm not overly interested by politics but if someone gave me ยฃ50 to bet on the next government in 2020, I'd be pretty confident that today's vote has all but wrapped up another Tory majortiy. The bookies took the assumption your making, they started him at 100/1 to win. he ended up at 1/16 to win. The tory rhetoric is happily and as ever a mile from the view of the people and that has just been proven. Just because all you hear is negativity, doesn't dictate that will be the outcome, sometimes its just the background noise of bias.
We will see in the election and not before, but id say your assumption there is way off the mark.
Most importantly, he has empowered the people to actually FEEL politics is theirs to own if they want it. This is something most have lost ANY hope of and that may well bring out a phenomenal amount of previous non voters in the next election.

Congratulations Corbyn and Watson, by Deleted on Sept 12, 2015 16:59:01 GMT 1, IMHO Corbyn will be always be a thorn in the side of the Tories and his policies will always been seen by some as the answer. As for Prime Minister I very much doubt it will ever happen. The next successful Labour Prime Minister will have to lean closer to the right to reclaim the seats needed to achieve a majority.

Congratulations Corbyn and Watson, by dotdot on Sept 12, 2015 17:15:24 GMT 1, Eye and ball the key words over the next few weeks.
Change does not sound like change if the shadow cab remains 75 % intact.
Saying what people might want to hear will only sure fire (win) in the short term , short term is what got us into where we are. Looks like he got in on hysteria and emotion ffs not a good sign. ( mind you the competition were something akin to blow up clones vile )
Corbie is old guard , I respect his view but I still believe old g is not what I'm about for any side , if I ever take sides.
Eye on ball... Remember ... I'll still be here in a couple of years come back to this thread and see what exactly he changes if nada is the answer then wtf was change then eh ?
Forward is never backward in any book ... Left is 'fine' ( read possible ) if you are flush , we're not flush... And won't be for a good while , excuse the pun on we're there ...
Don't be misinterpreting what I'm saying here , he has a chance but .... The odds are stacked , he has form and what it adds up to does not even vaguely resemble change with a capital c.
He will have to bend , now whether that is a bend as in bend over remains to be seen. If it's a bend as in volte face then it's status quo , snafu.
The Tories don't deserve a mention , they have no idea how to field this , he's a wild card ... Nobody deals well with a wildcard... Look at wee Nicky from up the road.... ( nobody knows how to manage her... She's a uxb... With the big c... ( charisma) , Dc has failed to manage her so far... Remember ??)

Congratulations Corbyn and Watson, by Deleted on Sept 12, 2015 18:39:03 GMT 1, I would wholly agree on the corporate tax evasion issue and this is an issue which needs to be sorted so huge amounts of profit are taxed in the country where the profit is generated. As for Trident I'm sorry but I still feel a nuclear deterrent is something that I would rather have than not have.
