Stik street art removed/ stolen from Poland project., by tartarus on Oct 6, 2015 15:31:26 GMT 1, Just got sent this, be careful what you decide to buy in the way of Stik pieces! Seems this installation has been wiped out, lets hope bank robber hasn't turned to taking Stik's work now!!
laznia.pl/index.php?mod=mainart&aid=258&&lang=en
LAZNIA 1 Statement Dear Sirs, we are sorry to inform you that the works created by British artist Stik in cooperation with local youth in the framework of street art workshops in the Lower Town in Gdansk in 2011 were removed from the public space in circumstances unknown to Laznia CCA. We have notified the competent authorities about the situation in order for them to investigate the case.
Just in case anyone is offered a slice of a cargo container!
Also worth knowing that these were a project with the local kids so not even all Stik work.

Stik street art removed/ stolen from Poland project., by Wearology on Oct 6, 2015 19:02:15 GMT 1, I have it on good authority that these STIK Pieces will never be authenticated. They are going to be treated the same way as a stolen Banksy street piece would be by Pest Control. They were removed without permission and it is a bit pathetic that a real Gallery would advocate & encourage this.

ARTIST MANAGEMENT
Over the past few years I have had the pleasure of dealing directly with a lot of respected and successful artists in a bid to promote them through the business by putting on private shows, increasing their online presence through websites and social media, and ensuring the best promotion is being applied in keeping with their style and current following.
LAMBERTY / Represented Artists
"S T I K (urban artist) After a lot of persuasion, we managed to convince Stik to hold his first and only exhibition in the gallery
GOLDMARK / BLACK RAT GALLERY represented and associated artists"

Stik street art removed/ stolen from Poland project., by The Silence on Oct 11, 2015 0:53:13 GMT 1, This is theft then - so why can't the police get involved? I guess the argument could go along the lines of 'they've got other crimes to solve' - but seriously if this is private property (someone must own the container?) then surely that is a real crime. Also if they're selling it then the people buying it should know it's not all going to be his work. Seems totally ridiculous. Or is this some kind of publicity stunt? Very confusing.

Stik street art removed/ stolen from Poland project., by Deleted on Oct 12, 2015 14:03:50 GMT 1,
ย It's a shame that art which was funded by locals in Gdansk has found it's way into a very expensive shop in Pimlico run why what some in the tradeย alledge is ย wide boy spiv messer opportunist.
ย ย There again the rent on the shop must be enormous and Lamberty has to eat.
Plus I very much doubt Lamberty would involve himself in moving stolen art across countries.
ย ย ย It's allย a bitย Walton carpets to me.
ย No street artist or person who paints on walls will ever give a coa to any gallery or dealer or middle man who removes the art as then the artist will be accused of colluding.
ย ย ย
ย ย ย ย Here is a fuller article with some rough translation.

""Works of the famous artist from London, Stika, which originated in 2011 on the container in the lower town of Gdansk, in the framework of organized workshops for youth, there have disappeared. The staff of the Centre for contemporary art Laznia, on which an invitation, the artist visited Poland, reported about it in a special statement. Meanwhile, the artist shall notify the institution of the dyrektorkฤ that the work appeared in the London Gallery, where you can buy them for a few thousand pounds!
We regret to inform you that works in collaboration with the British artist Stikiem in the framework of the workshop streetartowych in the lower City in 2011, disappeared in unknown circumstances to us. CSW Steam has made the necessary notification to the competent authorities to clarify the situation, "we read in the issued by the Centre for contemporary art in a statement.
British artist the Stik visited Poland four years ago, where the Lower district of the city, within the framework of the workshop, painted with local youth containers on the premises of the elementary school the number 65.
-Due to the disappearance of the containers we provide for a month, said in an interview with Charzyลska CCA Director, Hedwig ONEView.com 29 Steam. -We have been told by the artist, his works were shown in London and there have been prepared for sale is added.
The artist himself had placed a statement on his website, in which we read that disapproves of the destruction of social work from Gdansk and its commercial exploitation.
The headmistress of the primary school the number 65, Mrs. Jolanta Kwiatkowska-Reichel when questioned by us, or know anything about the disappearance of the artist's work from the school says that containers have been removed from the pitch due to launched its modernization.
-We informed from the very beginning of the Centre for contemporary art Laznia, that we are not the owners of the containers and they are leased from the UKS Motlawa-Gdaลsk. When upgrading works began on the site, the owner of containers took them, says Kwiatkowska-Reichel.
In turn, the owner of containers, Mr. Bogdan Iwaniak, who is a veteran of the UKS Motlawa-Gdaลsk, same charge made these containers. In an interview with the us admitted that he was actually asked to take them from the school. Claims after their removal just gave the announcement that sales of containers. To our question whether sold all three, including one painted by Stika, was not able to answer, because according to him, they were all painted by children and it was not for any work of art. He admitted that one major sold for 11, and less for 7 thousand. Iwaniak claims that he does not know how the works found their way to the London Gallery Stika, and he had the right to sell the containers because, as he says; "it was his property".
Who in this case provided the works to the gallery and Lamebrty who made remains a mystery. -We're not going to settle the matter, let them here the competent institution determines and will examine for copyright Charzyลska says and adds: โ we just answer the question, what right the work carried out within the framework of the revitalization of the neighborhood, someone takes and earns her money?
Not the first time there is a situation that made the work on the street disappeared under mysterious circumstances, and then at auctions, or offer Gallery dealing with the sale of street art. A container that the Stik painted in Gdansk, was cut to pieces, and so prepared "images" in the spray on metal included in the tender Lamberty Gallery in London.
As with urban art Portal Jaksik Mariusz sosm.pl, who published the pictures in this gallery, Lamberty Stika work outright has to the work of the artist. "second hand". -In 2013 Lamberty bought works by Stika total amount of 50 thousand. pounds.
At the same time, it is not surprising that the work of the gallery are as attractive Stika artist is a living legend. -By many collectors is considered the next Banksy. Prices for original works of this artist have gone through recently strongly up. Just mentioning that the last image of the artist two weeks ago was sold for ยฃ 500, and e-Bayu were volunteers who paid 3. pounds and more. Let us remember, however, that the authenticity of the stolen artworks will never be confirmed by its creator says Jaksik.
For now, the Gallery has not Lambrety to the origin of the work created, in Gdansk Stika in its possession.
London artist the Stik is known for creating the characteristic patykowatych on the walls of the cities, billboards, road signs or shopping sites. Its very simple style; just six strokes and two dots, which are blocks of fellows, at the same time, provides him with an extraordinary recognisability. The artist who created their works on the walls of the cities as homeless, today successfully sold for thousands of pounds, and his paintings in their collections are, inter alia, Elton John or Bono.""

Negotiating Return Childrenโs Community Mural The 2011 Childrenโs Community Mural in Gdansk, Poland was commissioned by Laznia Centre for Contemporary Art and financed by The British Council and Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland and the City of Gdansk as part of the Brit-Cult Festival and was contracted for educational purposes only and not for commercial exploitation. The mural was painted by Stik in collaboration with children from the local area. In 2014 the mural was removed from its original location by a third party without the knowledge of Stik or Laznia and is now in the hands of a fourth party. Stik and Laznia are attempting to negotiate with the fourth party for the return of the mural to its original location. The Polish Authorities have been informed of the situation and are in the early stages of an investigation.

THE STIK CONTAINERS FROM GDANSK โ PUTTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT. THE BARE FACTS. Lamberty purchased these containers from a recreation ground beside a canal after viewing them in autumn 2014. We commissioned a Polish agent to find and pay the owners and beneficiaries, who we understand were the Canoe club and the Director of the local school. We have recently been contacted by an arts institution called Laznia that was involved with Stik to create the project in 2011. Laznia did not notice that the containers had been removed until Stik contacted them a year later. Lamberty legally purchased these works with full documentation. We removed them from a harsh outdoor climate and prepared them for indoor instalment. A limited number can be viewed at Lamberty Gallery. Lamberty has sold more secondary market Stik works than any other gallery. Andrew Lamberty has recently met with Stik to discuss our handling of these pieces.
i wonder if he has the same documentation for the Clet Abraham road signs, actual real taken from the street owned by the council road signs!!!!!! He might, i don't know, just kinda wonder.

I was offered CLET pieces yesterday from the guy who sold to lamberty, said all came from council friend after they had taken them down! Really.
I asked if COA direct from artist and he acted like he did not understand.
I explain I think there worthless and he stopped trying to push them, I actually like CLET after seeing his pieces all over Florence.
what I hate about it is these places are just turning street pieces and secondary works, IMO parasites to the industry.
Outfits like us are investing in artists and working direct with them, paying back into the industry
these people and what seems like millions of others are just trading secondary works and feed off it, just look at the threads here from outfits re selling works like invader!
Seems this is ongoing, whatever way you choose to view it. www.stik.org/news/negotiating-return-childrens-community-mural.htmlNegotiating Return Childrenโs Community Mural The 2011 Childrenโs Community Mural in Gdansk, Poland was commissioned by Laznia Centre for Contemporary Art and financed by The British Council and Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland and the City of Gdansk as part of the Brit-Cult Festival and was contracted for educational purposes only and not for commercial exploitation. We wrote about this here sosm.pl/ogolnie/wiemy-kto-ma-stika/This is polish site about street art scene we are running for years. Right now. Lamberty wants us to remove pics in the article or... They will sue us they said. We used pics from tartarus, he published here. We want stik pieces back and we are ready to fight. Let me know here or pm. What we should do? Start a Facebook group and have people sign up to it and distribute the images, social media will slaughter Lamberty for these tactics.
