Advice on Storing Prints and Canvases, by joe90 on Oct 10, 2015 10:39:59 GMT 1, I was wondering if I could ask for some advice on how to store both prints and canvases but especially prints. I have a number still in the tubes they were sent in but Im wondering is it ok to keep them in the tubes or store flat. If storing flat what do I use and where would I get it. Like many on the forum I have more pieces than walls at the moment and also need to replenish the piggy bank for framing costs. but dont intend to sell any as I want them eventually up.
Advice on canvas storage also appreciated. is bubble wrap sufficient longterm.
Any advice is much appreciated.
Regards
Joe

Advice on Storing Prints and Canvases, by Coach on Oct 10, 2015 10:59:30 GMT 1, You will get lots of good advice I am sure. To start you off, you shouldn't keep yiur prints in tubes. After time, the prints can become damaged when flattened. Also be careful wrapping a canvas in bubble wrap. It can leave marks on the paint. Use acid free storage materials.

Advice on Storing Prints and Canvases, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Oct 10, 2015 11:10:36 GMT 1, I am now lucky enough to finally have found a timber plan chest (check the 'show us your plan chest' thread out) but like most I had prints in tubes in every wardrobe under the beds etc.. driving the wife nuts!! I trimmed down the collection and sold lots but one piece of advice is if in a coldish climate or suspect to damp don't put a print in the middle of 2 sheets of MDF. I did this with acid free paper each side and 2 weeks into winter in Sydney (which isn't that cold) the mdf was covered in mold and the fibres were everywhere also from the MDF, the print was fine but lucky I checked.
Buy the Acid free sleeves or if you have room a plan chest
