It was fantastic due to the quality of the pieces shown. It was a real treat to get to see 'Riding with Death' up close.
The more recent Brooklyn Museum show about the notebooks was a missed opportunity(IMO). What could have been fascinating was reduced(that's why I don't view it as major).
Enjoy this one!!! Hopefully, you get a lot of works on display from 1981, the golden year for Basquiat.

Basquiat books, especially gallery ones, have a small window in print, are very popular, and as a result end up going up in price quite a bit.
If this book ends up being a major advancement in the study of language in Basquiat's work, and it could be, then it will be money.
I've seen books of his, even ones that appeared at discount on Amazon, go from $50 to selling at $600(not just listed by people fishing).

The 2010 reissue shrunk the size significantly.

Man, you are in for a treat!!! The Warhol collabs are probably the worst work either did. They just didn't work, though people keep pushing them in order to create a market to unload them.
Basquiat doesn't have many paintings overall. If I remember correctly, and I might not, he had somewhere in the 800's. Many are garbage, unfinished, too drug-addled, etc. But, when he hit, he HIT.
Personally, I especially like word-heavy ones, like tennis star John McEnroe's 'Pegasus' which is arguably Basquiat's greatest work(next to Broad's skull, 'Riding with Death', and a couple of others).

Think it's in the '..Radiant Child' film where they talk about how different drugs effected his work and describe the word-heavy works as showing the use of cocaine. 'Riding with Death' is possibly my favourite, but it'd be hard to really pick just one.
