Jean-Michel Basquiat ๐บ๐ธ Brooklyn, New York โข Graffiti Art , by Deleted on May 10, 2017 21:52:52 GMT 1, Whats the connection to Basquiat? (apart from being a copy of one of his paintings.) Is it one of these licensing things? "The Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat is pleased to announce the release of a new 24-color Basquiat screenprint titled Flexible (1984/2016), published by Flatiron Editions. The edition of 85 will be available exclusively through Pace Prints starting on June 7, 2016 at 11:00am EDT. ... The posthumous release is stamped and signed by Lisane Basquiat and Jeanine Heriveaux, the artistโs sisters and administrators of the Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat. "
So they painted as a team with Basquiat? huh, one learns something new every day.

Jean-Michel Basquiat ๐บ๐ธ Brooklyn, New York โข Graffiti Art , by heller on May 12, 2017 0:08:09 GMT 1, These are very nice prints released by the Basquiat Estate. Signed by the Executor of his Estate and also signed by his sister. There have been many of these posthumous releases over the years.
It is very common for major artists estates to release posthumous editions for works held by the estate. A great example would be the estate of Pablo Picasso. In 1982, his Grand Daughter Released limited Edition lithographs of the family's estate owned originals. Marina Picasso hand signed and numbered all of these limited edition prints.
Unlike the Marina Picasso's, these where printed via Pace Editions. Small Edition Size and all sold out via the tier pricing released to major collectors and art galleries across the world. Same place where Alex Katz and Kaw's works are currently printed.
All of the Estate Prints have the Authenticity Stamped to the verso.
Very, Very Good Price. Amazing Pieces to view in person. We own both and showed Flexible this past year at Art Basel Miami - Spectrum.
GLWYS!

Would be better to get a signed print from when basquiat was alive, or save your money and get a much cheaper unofficial copy

Altho it does look like when posthumous prints are released by whoever, whatver artists estates and heirs that the people who decide to release the prints are collaborating with a no longer existing person.

Although, if that same painting was offered to you from a flea-market stall, by an unknown painter....
Would you want it? And if so, how much would you pay for it???
I think my wife and kids would'nt be happy with it if i'm honest.
It just would'nt work in my uber modern kitchen/diner!
No, I'll stick with my AFK 'ice diamond' print!!!

I think he's doing just fine in the "sense" department. He is also procuring this piece to share publicly in a museum that he is opening so it's not tucked away in some private collection never to be seen again. Pretty great if you ask me.

I don't know the real answer to this although I would think that pretty much everything is a tax write off when you have that much money. Much as I love Basquiat the only way I'm ever going to have a real one is when somebody invents a time machine and I nip back to Downtown New York circa early 1980's and make friends with him.... I wish!

He has a couple Pollocks. Last year he paid the old record of 57 mil for a Basquiat. Very nice to know that they will be able to be seen by the public.
