Jean-Michel Basquiat 🇺🇸 Brooklyn, New York • Graffiti Art , by Deleted on Dec 28, 2017 10:05:55 GMT 1, getting sad that there are more posts on these sales threads about the 'why' and 'second guessing motives' than actually thinking and considering the art for sale. These were sold as a set. it is not uncommon or unreasonable to only want to keep two of the four and it seems the seller was as open about that effort. While you guys were busy bitching about it appears someone actually bought something and will enjoy it for what it is. Sorry but this is nonsense. Someone wants to randomly keep 2/4 without caring which two. Lol. Let me guess the other two will be up soon. He clearly doesn’t care about any of the 4.
So what?
And why are you guessing these things? Do you really care? You don't know. Are you the Moral Guardian of all things prints? What a stupid fucking post
Keep on trolling KT

Those aren’t basquiat prints. They are estate posters.
Why would I waste 40k on junk. Seems the buyers should be the mad ones.

You couldn't really pick a bad one out of the group and I think the 2 on the wall idea works really well. GLWS unless these already sold! Happy new year to the group.

Those aren’t basquiat prints. They are estate posters. Why would I waste 40k on junk. Seems the buyers should be the mad ones. i said my piece above so I'll stop there. However, on the off chance you actually want to talk about the art and open your mind past the simple statements you are making maybe something could come of it. I, and many others including Pace Prints which is probably one of the more respected print houses in the world, disagree with you that these are simple posters. These are based on paintings done by Basquiat, reproduced in a high manner, represented by the artists estate, etc, etc i would venture of the 1000 steps to putting out a print 998 are basically the same whether the artist is alive or no. Step 101 might be 'artist approves the four images to use' and step 901 might be 'artist reviews and signs prints' These two steps - are important steps of course but that does not relegate these all the way down to being shabbily printed posters for an upcoming bake sale. This is my opinion. i respect yours. My opinion is of course backed by these selling out almost instantly for a combined huge sum of money. In the end though - i would if asked - request that the estate slow down this process to a very slow trickle rather than the every year or every other year run to the well.

You are right on a lot of that. However you are leaving out a huge motivating factor. MONEY.
. Sadly you may be right that a lot don’t have much to do with them except maybe signing them. However that doesn’t mean it’s right or more importantly should be ignored when discussing an artist or works being released.
Many artists have and do take a large roll in their prints. They should be celebrated. We shouldn’t accept the norm from the big galleries driven by money to release works that follow the model that the artist doesn’t realky matter. It’s insulting to the artist and to true fans of art.
Sadly money talks and this release backs that idea. I don’t think the sell out backs up the opinion that these works should be seen as legitimate in comparison to others being more involved. Alternately I think the sell out backs the opinion that these types of works are driven by greed, power, status and money.

Its the estates flogging a dead horse. For that you can buy a poster and its he same damn thing. Imagine " Oh what a wonderful basquiat you have there what year is it from? Oh this thing 2017 its an overpriced reissue from the estate twenty years after he died. But its a real basquiat in every sense... lol
Then theres sunday b morning ginaartonline.com/what-is-sunday-b-morning-and-what-is-the-connection-to-andy-warhol-art/

The collector you refer to is none other than Jose Mugrabi ... so a must see exhibition in terms of the pieces he has. It looks great and thank you for sharing and good to know you were allowed to take pics.

Quite a few of the images on CATs insta page are borrowed photos from owners of the works. Could be the OP has consigned these to CAT as well.

I can see why the question was raised tbh, if youre selling them on the forum why consign to CAT, surely either sell yourself on forum or consign and let CAT sell them.
