I cannot believe someone would have been as lazy as this or ill advised with respect to getting this professionally cleaned. It will look fantastic when its done. They have lost out by £20/40k IMO minimum.

Whoever bought this got a real bargain, provided the PC is confirmed and the question over open edition does not throw anything up.

I would have bought it 10x over at this price.

What a buy this was!
Although one sale doesn't make a market price it illustrates how crazy many of the Banksy prices for prints have become and particularly on here.. I'd rather have this over any print but I'm still around £37k short.

Having visited Phillips where that piece was displayed for a few days, I'm honestly NOT surprised it didn't fetch more when you factor in how small and average it looked like, hanging side by side to MUCH better / more appealing artworks. I love Banksy and own some so not trying to devaluate his Art but it's a good reminder of how much (more) great Art there is out there and people in the room that day (of the auction) obviously put their money elsewhere. Poor condition was part of the explanation but the Auction it was part of is another IMHO ;-)

Francis bacons paintings had dirty marks and fingerprints etc on them.

It's what made them Bacons and the painting of the Elephant is good in the condition it's in.


As for prices at auction.

It's a fickle business and cannot guarantee the sale on any given day.

Lovely, imo perfect as is inc. marks / kick prints etc., it's Banksy not Caravaggio.

Get the fkr nailed up on the wall.

I'm sure if Banksy/POW had published HW as a single colour signed and unsigned edition that would be up there with the current values of the GWRB signed and unsigned.
