Artists can still have creatively fulfilling and financially successful careers without their prints selling out within 2 seconds of release or people being able to flip them on eBay. |

Yup, cf JR. Like him or not, he is a successful artist, getting exposure globally and doing what he wants, selling out shows and prints over time at high price on primary,, but low activity on secondary.

Similar thoughts about Tomokazu Matsu who is absolutely KILLING it with his original works. They sell out before the shows and the cheapest small ones go for $6-$10K well on up yet he still has prints for sell in the $400-$800 range back from 2010. Blows my mind but not everyone digs his work. Anyway, I concur. This art world is funny no doubt. |
