Buy Your Banksy in Installments, by p4ryd on Oct 26, 2015 15:54:54 GMT 1, It is a great idea as these pieces are not exactly 'affordable' and when one does come along you may not be in a position to outlay all that cash at once. I have bought using the OwnArt scheme before and it has allowed me to get work I wouldn't have been able to shell out for all in one go. If it helped get me my first Banksy I would be interested.

Buy Your Banksy in Installments, by Deleted on Oct 26, 2015 16:33:54 GMT 1, my thoughts are that due to the nature of rising prices with Banksy, the term could realistically be no more than 3 months im afraid...any longer and prices could have risen another 10%
maximum purchase maybe £12-£15k...and minimum £3500 with a min of 3 installments
other artists i could give a longer payment term
no art would be released until full payment and final payment was settled.. deposits would be non refundable as i would have purchased the artwork and otherwise would be left high and dry, same other way...signed agreements on price, so price could not be altered regardless of market, nor could the vendor namely CAT sell the artwork elsewhere..
again rthoughts? would this be of interest? if you are serious then PM me and we can discuss a formal arrangement thanks

This is based on me thinking it will be a 1/4 1/3 deposit.
Maybe charge a token £250/500 for admin....

Buy Your Banksy in Installments, by Aza on Oct 26, 2015 16:53:40 GMT 1, It's a nice idea, but I don't think there is much point if the longest term is 3 months. May as well just save up for 3 months.
This sort of thing would appeal to people who couldn't raise that sort of money, especially in 3 months.

Buy Your Banksy in Installments, by Deleted on Oct 26, 2015 16:58:01 GMT 1, why save up when you could have your print already secured? i do agree that 3 months is short but if i price a print say at £4000 with payment over 12 months for example, by the time the 12 months is up that print could be £6000 ! yes it may not work but thats why im throwing it out there...it certainly wont work for all

You are offering financing on purchasing to make a sale today. What it might be worth in 6 months is rather irrelevant. Much like a car dealer, I imagine your buy it now cash price is less than your buy it on instalments price, so there is implicit interest worked in to the price of the latter.

Buy Your Banksy in Installments, by Deleted on Oct 26, 2015 17:40:04 GMT 1, Fair play to CAT for trying to offer this type of scheme. I'm sure with a bit of careful planning and thought that this could work out well for many people who can't splash the cash in one go.

Buy Your Banksy in Installments, by mla on Oct 26, 2015 17:59:28 GMT 1, Unless you have a ton of spare capital, I wouldn't proceed with this. You are better off maintaining a solid inventory and turning it as quickly as possible at healthy margins. The only reason I ever consider it personally is to facilitate a sale that might not otherwise occur, within a very narrow range of buyers. With something as popular as Banksy, I don't think the extra incentive is needed to move his work.
