Buying a banksy? COA, by disturbart on Oct 27, 2015 12:07:30 GMT 1, I'm hopefully looking to buy my first banksy. Obviously going to only buy from a trusted source with pest control certificate.
Before I hand over the cash can I phone/email pest control to make sure the owner is the legit owner of the print ?

Buying a banksy? COA, by Trevorm on Oct 27, 2015 12:29:06 GMT 1, Doesn't always follow that the current keeper/owner of the piece has contacted PC. I know one lazy article that has several Banksys and hasn't updated the ownership with any of them.

Buying a banksy? COA, by mla on Oct 27, 2015 15:10:21 GMT 1, You can contact PC before you purchase and they can confirm details.
Personally, I would only purchase prints which have been registered to the current owner for at least 6 months.

Buying a banksy? COA, by ABC on Oct 27, 2015 15:17:52 GMT 1, I haven't bothered at all with COA on mine. Have original Protox receipts from the purchase. Do you have to physically send print off to get COA?

I sent off to get one COA and one up dated in September, I have not had a reply, I guess they catching up from Dismaland.

No just pics. If they have a record of it being sold to Protox then quick and easy...
The ones I brought direct from POW got authorised in 24 hours...

So is it just a case of emailing them or telephoning them with current owners details and they confirm it over the phone or email straight away ?

Buying a banksy? COA, by mojo on Oct 27, 2015 16:01:15 GMT 1, I was very reliably told that Pest Control have now returned to the office and have just started to contact people via email in regard to authenticity enquiries and that COA's will start to be sent out next week.
I've said it before and I'll say it again DON'T buy Banksy prints without the correct certificate of authenticity from Pest Control. It is also important to update ownership records with them.

They got back to me within 24 hours. If a seller can't wait that long, I'd start wondering if something nefarious was going on anyways.

Buying a banksy? COA, by Wearology on Oct 27, 2015 16:42:47 GMT 1, I was searching my e-mails looking for a price on a recent Banksy and this popped up from May 2013 and I thought the buyer at the time was asking too much. Girl With Ballon - $8861.05

Girl With Ballon - $8861.05 I find it amazing browsing some of the forum archive posts. So many gems and great discussions with some of my favorites being members getting irate at other members charging a small premium for their Banksy shortly after the release or the continuing pattern of people waiting for the "bubble" to bust to get a deal. Definitely great stuff.

Yup I can confirm. I just got an confirmation email today about an ownership change that I had submitted about 2 weeks ago.

Buying a banksy? COA, by Larry David on Oct 27, 2015 19:16:41 GMT 1, To the OP , I would not worry to much about being in the current owners name, many owners on here simply don't register the change with PC, as long as they have the PC cert and you can see the print I am happy. And to echo others I had today two emails from PC on the same change of name, great service as they must be swamped.

Buying a banksy? COA, by Aza on Oct 27, 2015 19:26:44 GMT 1, So if you had a copy of the original purchase email and the COA, would you buy the print from the current owner without hearing for confirmation from PC about the current owner?

Buying a banksy? COA, by Larry David on Oct 27, 2015 19:59:20 GMT 1, To be honest as every situation is different , I bought off a good forum member had checked its history with another previous former owner and I met at the sellers house, all musts for me .If I was buying from distance sure I would wait for PC to confirm however I would still want to see the print in person.
